I'm not going to overreact as it's only been 2 games but boy has their play has been meh at best. I'm not too worried about Taylor as I am Smith who looked like a declining player in Tampa. Everyone says it was because he was injured and maybe he still is but this has to get better if we're going to repeat as champs

The refs are eyeballing it now but just like other "points of emphasis" in the past it usually settles down over the course of the season.

Also aside from the really ticky tack holding call did Smith really play poorly?

O-Line penalties have to be right up there with the most frustrating things in the game. False start are a sign of sloppy preparation and lack of focus and when to have a wizard at evading pressure like Mahomes who slips sack situations that 95% of their QBs would be snared by as a linemen your job is to recognise when to are beat and slow the player down a touch but don’t ever blatantly hold as you will regularly negate big gain plays.

D Smith we're going to at least periodically need to offer help to, as we did with OBJ and Wylie. If Taylor adjusts he can still be a good pass-protector, and to be honest I think he moves well enough to not really need the extra time. Trey Smith is going to be a little up and down, not sure there's a lot we can do about that. Although we could play to his strengths more on run downs

Eh they played 2 good dlines. They'll be fine. Two new tackles it's going to take time to gel. Mahomes has good time in the pocket.

Snaps need to get cleaned up. Taylor needs to adjust but not being able to get an extra step is not going to suddenly make him awful.

I'm also ok with Smith not bothering to disguise a hold. Just protect mahomes. If you get beat, tackle the guy for all I care. Mahomes is capable of picking up any down and distance.

He held up VERY well in pass-pro. I'm not sure how that could be missed.
