Suddenly they seemed great and maybe ready to take the next step but that limited QB was still just good enough to get them beat in the playoffs.

Worse - that defense was ever so slowly aging and starting to show serious cracks.

Fortunately we had Mahomes to take over just as the wheels came off the defense and the rest is history. But if we DIDN'T have him, the 2023 Vikings are the 2018 Chiefs. They are the ghost of Christmas Future that Reid/Veach/Dorsey/Clark must've been shown going into that draft...
