I'm not saying we should now overreact to one game, just that people overreacted to the first 2.

The jury is still out, but considering he's attached to Sam Howell, my guess is that it's not going to be a good year overall.
I know what you’re saying. I was more so commenting on the general drift of this thread.

People love their hot takes.

What? I'm laughing over here. Maybe that's how I register 'upset'?

Howell's a roll of the dice. He's got more potential than Brissett, so obviously EB took a chance on him. But with the big arm and mobility, you also get gunslinger mentality, so he holds the ball too long and takes big risks, because he wants to make big plays, shocker.

Pretty basic.

Oh here's me upset, just to make you happy

The laughing comes off a little passive aggressive considering I'm not joking, and I clearly didn't say anything outlandish to warrant it.

Maybe mad is a better word? You mad?

Sorry that I'm not buying Sam Howell as a franchise QB bruh!

I would say the offense at best was below average looking against the Cardinals. I mean they put up 20 points. 10 of which really set up by the Dee with a 29 yd td drive and a field goal after a 7 yd drive. They only had 248 total yds.

Basically they had 1 game were they ran really well against Denver and after watching Denver against Miami...

Lol, okay if it makes you feel better, I'm mad.

No one ever said Howell was a franchise QB. At least I didn't, and I'm sure others said the same thing.

I said he had the physical tools to be a starting QB. That's clearly not the same thing.

Obviously, the kid needs some seasoning, and he clearly needs to learn to take what the defense gives him, instead of holding the ball forever trying to play hero ball. Especially behind that OL. If he figures it out, he'll be okay.

We'll see where he's at in about 15 weeks.

The Washington offensive line is BAD. Wylie, in particular, has been awful (shouldn't surprise EB).

EB will have to figure out a way to keep his QB upright, or things could start to unravel.

They've (OL) had good reps, even good halfs, but overall, yeah, they kind of stink.

WAS is currently giving up over 70% pressures on the season. I think in this last game they gave up 80%. No QB is going to play well under those conditions. Now, a significant chunk of that is Howell just holding the ball way too long, but you gotta figure around half of that or more is the OL.

Either way, the OL needs to play better just to give Howell enough to time to actually get to his 2nd read. Maybe even his 3rd. But that maybe asking too much. Enough time to get his head up and take a quick look at a 2nd option would be nice.

The other consideration is that Howell is probably a slow processor. If he can't speed that up, or if EB can't find a way to speed that up, well, it'll be a long season for the Commanders and EB.

Anyone actually watch the first drive by WAS vs. PHI? Watching the replay right now, and EB's opening drive script was, well, damned near perfect. Right up until the LT decided to brainfart and false started inside the 10. Got a lucky flag against PHI to get it back to 1st and goal, then punched it in in two plays.

No sacks, no negative plays, the one flag, 4/6 passing for 50 yards. 75 yards, 14 plays, TD.

Against a top-5 defense, and a Division opponent, that's pretty good.
