2023 1/3 of the way thru Stat Comparison

Might as well compare our offense and defense at the same point last year to see any improvements or failures. I can tell already from looking at the stats below our Defense has SIGNIFICANTLY improved - Almost 500 yards less in offense allowed, 60 less points allowed, and 10 more turnovers generated.

Offense 23 / 22

Record - 5-1 / 4-2
Passing Yards - 1,583 / 1,655
Passing TD's - 11 / 17
Rushing Yards - 711 / 639
Rushing TDs - 4 / 4

WR Receiving Yards - 860 / 930
TE Receiving Yards - 505 / 523
RB Receiving Yards - 218 / 202

Defense 23 / 22

Points Allowed - 88 / 149
Yards Allowed - 1,704 / 2,139
Sacks - 17 / 14
Interceptions - 3 / 1
Fumbles - 10 / 3

Sneed (likely with a safety back every play) will be matching up with Tyreek and will get burnt more than once…Tyreek is just so good it’s not fair. I kinda expect McDuffie to erase Waddle, though snd for the DL to make the whole game uncomfortable for Tua.

Yeah Sneed and Reid over the top - what has me worried about Miami more than their passing attack is Mostert and the rush.

Our Defense is balling and our Offense is doing alright.

Gotta go with the belief that the Chiefs will get it all right by the end of the regular season.

Achane is out and if Mostert was a real threat, he would have done more the last time, when he was on the losing 49ers in the Super Bowl, losing to the Chiefs. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Considerably less offensive output with more attempts due to a better defense.

If I'm adding the offense passing/rushing yards correctly. Using my brain and not some stupid calculator we have:

2022 total yards 2294

2023 total yards 2294

Never would have thunk it!

No one's worried, but wouldn't hurt to add a spark if a good fit becomes available.

Wait, wait, wait!

I have it on good authority that you have to remove Rice's production in order to get a good comparison!

I think what I really like seeing here is more sacks from the D-Line and LB's instead of the DB's. Better pressure from the line. Also interesting that FAU and Karlaftis had the same amount of sacks at the same point in their rookie career

Sacks 23

Tranquil - 1.5
Reid - 1
Chenal - 1
Danna - 3.5
Karlaftis - 2.5
Jones - 5.5
Edwards - 1
FAU - .5
Herring - .5

Sacks 22

Sneed - 3
Dunlap - 2
Wharton - 1
Jones - 3
Bolton - 2
Clark - 1.5
Harris - 1
Karlaftis - .5

Also interesting of note

James - 6 Punt Returns for 24 yards a 4.0 yard average
Washington - 8 Punt Returns for 61 yards a 7.6 yard average

I'd say Washington is much better.
