Pretty bummed about this. No idea why he was expected not to be claimed or why they risked that ahead of guys like Dickerson or Thompson.

Reminds me of the time we kept Nick Williams instead of David Irving. I guess Nick Williams was less of a liability while Irving was just a rookie, and we valued that more? Didn't exactly feel good when we cut his ass anyway the following season.

Coburn absolutely had more upside than Peniserson. And was in the 1st year of his rookie contract. Had potential to work in our rotation quite a bit. I'll bet Peniserson isn't even on the team next year.

I'd bet Dickerson isn't on any team next year. Terrible player. Oh well.

dlphg9 will be along to tell us all how much Nnadi and every other DT sucks and that Coburn should have been active and so on even though the coaching staff, the professionals, would not agree.

Damn they cut bait quick.

They saw enough in 5 months that they were like, “mmmk, no thanks, we’re good.”

Was it lack of skill? Lack of will?

Might not have been either of those, maybe they hated to do it but simply felt pressing needs elsewhere

They spent a 6th on that young Raiders DT with
Coburn already in the building so maybe that was an early indication of how they really felt about the guy? Veach hasn't let go of any draft picks prematurely who's gone on to be a world beater yet so hopefully this isn't his first mistake.

A lot of hand wringing over a 6th round pick. I guess 20 years of Carl Peterson drafting has me conditioned to not expect every draft pick to make it. It's nice having Veach finding so much success with late round picks that we get this worked up when a 6th round pick gets cut and someone picks him up.
