So I was thinking about it watching the game, and I’m on wax about being out on Caleb Williams, but I’m not sure you don’t take him anyway if you’re a GM. Maybe this year is different with Pennix Maye and Nix but if you’re the Bears and you have #1 and #2 I think you take Williams and Harrison and shoot your shot.

I’ll stand by my previous assessment and I’ll eat the crow if he’s good but as a GM, I think you do it.

If you take it him and are wrong it’s Johnny football with less warning signs. If you’re right you’re a ****ing hero forever. As a fan I’d rather my Franchise swing and miss than try to bunt their way out of a hole.

This guy's draft stock has to be falling faster than the want for Kyler Murray did in AZ.

nah, he'll still go number 1. GM's cant pass on him. They do and it works out it makes them a genius. Fails, its career over. They will swing for the fences.

Right, and if May or Pennix become Mitch Trubisky, and Williams takes off, you're probably done as a GM.

I will say this about Caleb, just like Trevor Lawrence, many people act like it's blasphemy to criticize him as a prospect.

Just realized he is not gonna be in the CFB playoffs as a starter. It's not like he was Mahomes and played in Siberia with barely any talent.

Jordan Addison, Tui Tuipulotu, Mekhi Blackmon and Andrew Vorhees were all top 100 talents in the last draft and he's got quite a few this year as well.

It's impossible to be Patrick Mahomes. He just needs to focus on being a good QB for now

Agreed. This is what happens when our culture and society become more spiritually idolatrous and sacrifice their souls to their gods as time goes on.

But this whole Caleb is the messiah crap and can do no wrong, please, you are watching "pride comes before a fall" right before your very eyes. And if I am a GM what I pay attention to more than anything are these qualities in this order 'WHEN' looking at the QB position:

1. Character - show me you are a leader of men and love them, show me you know how to handle adversity on and off the field. Show me that the NFL game is "not all about YOU and your career" but about "your team and winning as a team" thus you put your teammates FIRST. Bottom line - Show me HUMILITY!

2. Student of the Game - Show me you love the game so much you "want to be the smartest guy on the field" in any football offensive situation and 95% of the time(nobody's perfect) make the "right decisions".

3. Physically play the game - Show me you can make all the throws 'accurately', show me you have quick feet in the pocket to avoid the rush in the pocket without being overly athletic. Show me you know how to exhaust all WR options before taking off 'if possible'.

Don't know if you guys saw this last night after the game, but you saw the camera on Caleb sulking, feeling sorry for himself just sitting there on the bench. NOT GOOD!! Here a walk on back up QB who was working at Lowe's just a few months earlier who worked his ass off just to be the backup just beat the Goliath of college QBs in Williams!! Do you think IF hypothetically speaking if Barnes beat Mahomes that Pat would just sit there and just selfishly sulk ???????

NO WAY !!! Pat would've have been the first on the field to shake Barnes's hand and congratulate him as much as Pat hates losing. Pat is TOTAL CLASS and has respect for successful oppositional warrior play because this is just another sign of Pat's "LOVE FOR THE GAME".

Don't care if you can throw the ball out of the stadium with accuracy or scramble/run better than most RBs; if you don't love the game more than yourself(humility and student of the game) then it's a pass for me.

The sports media, public and GMs are always chasing the new shiny object making it their god until the shine wears off and for some the shine wears off quicker than others.

Pat passes not only all of the top 3 qualities in a QB with flying colors and then some for me, HE LIVES THEM !!! Caleb stated that he can do everything Pat can.(my paraphrase).

REALLY ????

Until Caleb embraces the 1st and 2nd qualities he will have a very RUDE AWAKENING in the NFL for sure. College QBing vs NFL QBing is the difference between MEN and boys. Sure, it is a wait and see situation but when you have CAM II written all over your ego, it is a EASY PASS for me.

Question for you:

Alex Smith had those three qualities in spades. Maybe #3 less so than others, but he absolutely possessed average to above average arm strength, and definitely made up for it with his size and scrambling ability.

Is there something else out there that we can point to and say, "Well, that's why Mahomes is Mahomes and Alex is Alex"
