Dreams are a way for the brain to process and organize memories from the day or past days, discarding unnecessary information and retaining important memories. During this process, the brain creates a narrative from these memories as a form of emotional coping mechanism for both positive and negative experiences in reality. It's important not to interpret dreams too deeply as they are simply stories created from memories and can lead to confusion or misguided actions, Say, for example, that you and your ex had an altercation the day before or perhaps a week earlier. You would of course remember it, but your body would need to decide whether it was significant enough to retain. It intentionally makes the dream pleasant because it anticipates that it would likely be a negative experience. If you give the dream too much thought, however, and assume that it will actually work, you may soon find yourself back in a poisonous relationship.
