HOKA shoes

Ok so I work for a hospital and the saying goes, whatever a nurse wears as foot wear - buy it! So the masses where I work wear Hoka shoes. They are very pricey but great reviews. I received a $100 gift card from work today so I used it to buy these for work....

Never by Hokas from Amazon that's probably the most expensive place to get them.

I have always done the same thing, buy 2 or 3 pairs of shoes every year or so depending on wear and tear. Those used to be Nike's, didn't mind throwing down $80-$100 for the brand and always found the build quality to be good.

This last time I tried the Nike's and thought I could see what else was out there so I tried Brooks and HOKA. I actually liked the Brooks Ghost series alot, firm fit, padding was comfortable and the colors were good with a price tag around $120 at that time. HOKAs were around $140 at the time for the Clifton 9 version. HOKAs rocker sole threw me off at first, padding was overly generous but walking around in them felt good and my wife and other friends and family had pairs so I got the HOKAs. I'm sure I would've been happy and saved money with the Nikes or Brooks, I can't tell you if it's had a good affect on my stride, feet, knees, etc by walking in them but they're good. If you're on your feet all the time maybe you have a greater appreciation for them, but I can't really tell the difference, to me they're just shoes.

Brooks seems to be the shoe of choice with the nurses I work with.

Redwing #8084 Iron Rangers more comfy than any athletic shoes.

Redwing #3504 Supersole when on Pipeline construction or heavy construction requiring safety toe. I get a 300-buck allowance any over is out of my pocket every 2 years.

If they let me I could golf in these boots walking the course with a carry bag. There are a lot better and more expensive boots but I have found these just fine over many years. They are made in USA still in Wisconsin but beware Red Wing has many lines that they farm out overseas now.

I have spent much of my life in boots and rarely am seen in athletic shoes. I don't run but do walk and hike a lot.

Barefoot shoes are much better. Takes a bit to get used to but once your feet adapt they will never feel bad again.

Same. Been doing those for last 15 years or so for all things and it got rid of so many other problems. These HOKA monstrosities look like my ultimate shoe nightmare.

I’ve used Brook Ghost for years but recently picked up some Hoka Clifton’s and they are pretty great for walking. As mentioned above don’t buy them on Amazon since they are above retail there (don’t think Amazon is an authorized seller but Zappos is).

Also another tip with hokas is they are rarely on sale. If you are paying full retail might as well take advantage of getting them fit at a running store if you have one in your area.
