Denver obliterated him in Superfarce 50 for what should have been 4 to 5 PFs and 0 got called. Yet Josh late slides after fake sliding earlier, the defender barely touched him and it's a PF. Part of me believes that the Chiefs have been going vanilla for the end of the season. I know it's arrogant to believe this was all planned in any way shape or form, but once they lost so many games, but saw they were up in the division, all they had to do was maintain the lead. Play vanilla, show only half or less of your playbook, and save it for the post season with hopefully the 2, 3, or 4 seed you could let go of the bye week, but Reid has always been okay with playing his players when they could be resting. I'm really looking forward to this gauntlet, underestimate Mahomes, give him that fire, that chip on his shoulder, maintain your lead in the division, get your guys healthy and don't show what you have up your sleeve until the playoffs. It'll be a close game, I know, they always are, but I'm more confident in beating the Bills than I am the Texans, regardless of where we play. Hopefully the Ravens/Texans beat up on each other Saturday, we tear the heart out of Josh Allen and Buffalo again in front of their home crowd this time, and then we get the leftovers and another week to plan and play in our 6th consecutive AFC Championship Game. Would make it even better if the Texans beat the Ravens so it would be the Arrowhead Invitational yet again.

That's not true at all. The Chiefs SIMPLIFIED the playbook because all of the plays were coming in late with the receivers simply not grasping the formations as well. They actually made things easier on the team to help with EXECUTION...and it is working. The defense has ran advanced schemes all season, but I'm sure Spags has a wrinkle or too because Allen has decided the officials will protect his soft ass in the playoffs so he's running more.

The Chiefs, in this game, cannot be the team they've been all season, including the Dolphins game where they dropped a ton of passes and cost themselves points with stupid penalties. It didn't hurt them against Miami, but Miami didn't even bother getting off the plane to play us, other than Tyreek Hill.

I don't worry about Mahomes or the defense, all of which will be on their game and playing to their max. The defense will have their hands full, but I believe that Sneed will remove Diggs and the linebackers/safeties will do everything they can to limit Knox and Kincaid.

Ultimately, Josh Allen will play us well like he always does, but I'll still be surprised if the Bills put up more than 23 on us.

The bigger question for me is if the Chiefs can exploit the skeleton crew the Bills have at linebacker. The Chiefs like playing those intermediate routes anyway this year, and they can dink and dunk against a hospital ward of a linebacking crew. They may also be able to run well on them, they're going to have some inexperienced players on the field. If Kelce stops dropping the ball, the Chiefs have some real promise there.

The Bills can always play shallow and dare us to beat them overhead? That's what I would do if I were Buffalo; KC's deep passing percentages are pathetic this year because of the WR incompetence. The good news is that the Chiefs have the deep speed to penalize them with Justin Watson, Mecole Hardman, and Marquez Valdez-Scantling. Can they make the plays we will ask of them? I don't know.

The Bills also put a ton of heat on opposing passers, but Mahomes is going to have Donovan Smith protecting his blindside this game, not Wanya Morris like last time we played the Bills. He's also going to have Pacheco, which we didn't last time we played and were an offsides call away from winning. (Pacheco looks like a Pro Bowler right now and will allow the offense some opportunity to dissect and break down the Bills D.) The heat the Bills put on QBs would be a really big problem if Mahomes weren't so damn good at evading pressure.

Honestly, this game will come down to the receivers. The Chiefs have the D to contain Allen, they have the run game to give their offense time, they have a GOAT at QB.

But when the Bills bring a bunch of heat and play the Chiefs shallow, will Kelce catch his passes? Will the receivers catch the ball down the field when Mahomes puts it in their hands?

I give that a 50/50 chance of that happening. So long as it does, they'll make a 6th consecutive trip to the AFCCG. Insane to think about.
