    • Imprisonment: 2 to 10 years in state prison
    • Fines: Up to $10,000
  • Serious Injuries: If the accident caused serious bodily injury, it becomes a second-degree felony. Penalties can be:
    • Imprisonment: Up to 20 years in state prison
    • Fines: Up to $10,000
Remember, these are the maximum potential penalties. The exact sentence will be determined by a judge based on the specific circumstances of the case.
Here are some additional points to consider:
  • Leaving the Scene: The key factor is leaving the scene of the accident without providing information and assistance to those involved.
  • Serious Bodily Injury: The definition of "serious bodily injury" in Texas can include injuries that significantly impair a body function or create a substantial risk of death.
If you're facing charges for a hit and run accident in Texas, it's crucial to consult with an attorney who specializes in criminal defense. They can advise you on the best course of action in your specific situation.

Slick lawyers with connections will surely get this knocked down to a plea misdemeanor

Switched outfits!

They didn't switch outfits, it was an alien that dressed up dressed up like Rice.

Now I know it wasn't Aliens. But you can't PROVE it wasn't aliens, can you.

Are we even convinced this qualifies as a hit and run as they define it? He left the scene but didn’t leave in his car trying to avoid all indications he was there. Seems like the lawyer can easily argue he wasn’t trying to avoid legal responsibility.

Lawyers working with the prosecutor now on hypotheticals without Rice saying a word. Rice most likely will plead no contest to a misdemeanor. He got lucky, hopefully he learns from it.

No, , he left, probably was a little high or buzzed. He is extremely luck and hopefully it was a young and dumb moment and he survived it, many don't.
