In concept, sure. In practice? Eh...that gets really iffy. The legal process can take years to play out, and it wouldn't exactly be a good look to wait 3 years to suspend someone for something really heinous.

Of course the NFL is only worried about its image, but everyone already knows the league has more than its fair share of idiot criminals. WRs in particular seem to be prone to doing some of the dumbest things imaginable.

P.R. isn't fooling anyone at this point.

The military is a lot like the NFL in that you have a lot of young men hyped up in an environment that promotes aggression and when they are on their own time, these kinds of things happen. You accept that it's going to happen while simultaneously working hard to limit it as much as you can.

Whether it is the military or the NFL, the organization has to punish the behavior, but virtually everyone involved with dispensing the punishment wants to lean toward leniency. This is not always true and all situations are different, but whenever you have an incident that leans toward a more minor result, everyone wishes the situation would just go away and punishment is usually much less severe than it could otherwise be. I saw many "desktop letters of reprimand" issued when court-martial was an option. The "desktop letter of reprimand" was a letter of reprimand that went into the commanders desk and would be torn up in 6 months if you kept your nose clean, but if you didn't, it went into your permanent records.

When the NFL hands down a suspension in this case Rice should appeal it because everyone does, but then cheerfully accept his punishment because it almost certainly far less than what it could have been.

Not a single charge has been filed yet.

Just a reminder for everyone who thinks this is a slam dunk case.

The insurance likely voids for reckless driving anyway

Yep, but you know it's gonna be the same people continuing to act like expert lawyers and tell us how this is what the charge is gonna be with this penalty. How bout we wait for those who actually you know practice law for a living decide how this should proceed based on the complete evidence that none of us are privy too.

The only thing that should be univerally acknowledged at this point is that Rashee was really stupid for even putting himself in any position like this.

If it had been you or me chances are we would be sitting in a jail right now. Especially after leaving the scene of a collision with injuries.

We're not talking about a murderer on the run here - it's not like they have to rush and lock him up out of concern for public safety.

I think people have a greatly distorted view of how quickly detectives gather evidence for stuff like this. Didn't it take like a week to file charges for the parade shooting when there were literally hundreds of witnesses? And then other charges were filed weeks later.

Well, its not like he rented this from Hertz. We haven't seen the contract. (At least I haven't). Do we know what company he rented from? Do we know if he rented it from a private party? Is it possible the driver has an umbrella policy of his own that may cover the Lambo?

I wouldnt jump to any coverage conclusions just yet...

Also, it didn't look totaled so even though it wont be cheap maybe it isnt a total loss?
