Man - y'all must think every prosecutor and judge in the world is lookin' to hang people for jaywalking.

Very few of us would be in jail right now absent some sort of aggravating factors and/or a lengthy record of similar issues. Any of us that were just caught some folks on a bad day.

Prosecutors care about drunk drivers, kiddy diddlers and drug traffickers. The rest of you folks are going to get suspended sentences, diversionary programs and maybe an hour or two in court here and there while the attorneys hammer out the paperwork in between.

Again, I'm just baffled at how much this has blown up. Suddenly we have people honestly trying to say that the dude's going to spend 10 years in prison?? C'mon.

Yes... a 6 vehicle collision due to street racing that ended with injuries and feeling the scene = Jaywalking.

The criminal justice system doesn't determine how things are any more than the NFL does. I don't often agree with the NFLs discipline, but to think they should have to wait and see what the legal system outcome is to act makes zero sense.

Is anybody arguing that though? Well probably given how this thread is going.

But as I’ve mentioned.. on paper it’s a felony. But given how our judicial system works… whether it be a plea deal, or whatever. I highly doubt he ends up with one

I wouldnt jump to any coverage conclusions just yet...

Also, it didn't look totaled so even though it wont be cheap maybe it isnt a total loss?

And?

Capitalize 'felony' all you want. Most folks wouldn't go to jail over what he's done. They wouldn't go to jail over the accident itself and ultimately the fleeing charge is something prosecutors use to stack charges for the most part and then plea down.

That's just how it goes. The fleeing is an afterthought in these circumstances. And since nobody was seriously hurt and there are not presently any aggravating circumstances (weapons, drugs, impairment, etc...), the prosecutor wouldn't go to war with YOU over it, let alone Rice.

Get as wound up as you want. I have very little doubt as to how this is going to go.

I also highly doubt he ends up with one.

If you or I street race, cause a 6 vehicle collision which shuts down the highway for 4 hours, cause injury, and bail. We aren't getting to communicate through a lawyer while chilling at home.

Hell... if they are happy to snatch my ass up and toss me in jail for having a suspended license (actually happened), then they would be more than please to snatch me up a dude that cause a 6 car wreck with injuries then ****ing bailed.

I got snatched up and tossed in jail for driving on a suspended license. No accidents, no damage. I just forgot to pay a ticket. All things being equal... they should be more than please to snatch me up a dude that cause a 6 car wreck with injuries then ****ing bailed.

Yep. As far as the idiotic things that NFL players do to get themselves into trouble with the law, this is pretty minor. Regardless of the punishment or charges, he is extremely lucky everyone involved is alive and spared from significant injury.
