Off topic, but I walked through the Neiman Marcus at our local mall the other day, and they had some really nice looking sneakers that I'd never seen in real life. It was some designer brand: Gucci or Prada or Louboutin or something.

I picked them up and the price was $1,200. I put them back down quickly.

That's so out of character that you would bring up something entirely irrelevant to the conversation about something in your past.

We met my wife's friend the other day for dinner. He was all excited about his new shoes. He showed us and we were like "oh cool" in a kind of half assed uninterested way. He said "they're Urmas". We kind of gave another "oh cool" since we'd never heard of the brand Urmas. Well, it turns out that the brand is Hermes (pronouced Urmas). We looked them up....those shoes were $1000!

I get my new chainsaw today. It costs like 1/3 of those shoes and is WAY cooler.

Had I shown up to dinner with that you'd have been WAY more impressed.

I hope they actually pronounced it "hur-meez" (or hur-mez) because people should probably know what they have on.

But it's French so it has to be all haughty sounding. The second "e" has the little accent mark over it, but I don't know how to make that on the keyboard

I say that now as well, but when I was young I was sporting parachute pants, overpriced concert shirts, and the newest overpriced Ponys.
