Tamba drops a deuce on Alex Smith

I'll throw Florio a bone on this one... or maybe an anvil?

Even now I've seen some variant of that line used to describe him like 5 or 6 ****ing times in this thread alone.

It was used by his ballwashers and his detractors. I probably used it at some point too because I got infected with the dumb from everybody else ****ing using it.

What the **** does it even mean? It'd be one thing if it were a common sports cliche. I'd still hate it, but I'd understand its prevalent use. But I've NEVER seen it used to describe any other athlete. No other game managers get that label. No shitty players. No all pros or future HOFers, either. Just Alex. He's the only one who gets that line, as if no other athlete just is what that athlete is. And again.... WHAT THE **** DOES THAT MEAN?
Idk.

It might just be he was the quarterback that helped get us out of the cellar. He wasn't great at all, but hell I'd take anything to not be literal worst in the league. Obviously it's all relative now and playoff contender feels like small shit compared to becoming a dynasty, but it was better than what we had.

I dont wish ill will on him, despite the crushing playoff loses. He was fine. Thats it.

And if what Smith was doing helped Mahomes his redshirt year like the man himself literally said, then **** yeah, it was all worth it.

Usually, when you have multiple things you "****ing...can't stand about" a person, you intensely dislike him, whether you want to admit that or not.

Usually, when someone defends a person, and you feel the need to make some reference to that's person's being a homosexual, you have really strong feelings.

It's pretty straightforward. Throttle back.

Fine. I misspoke. "The other thing I can't stand about the Alex years"

There. ****ing happy?

I still don't hate Alex, but there's still plenty of time to change that. I've still got my old torch and pitchfork. Keep being a weirdo for Alex, and I just might dust them off.

People who weren't regular posters during the Alex Smith years can't possibly understand the suffering that the Alexians put us through.

there was an influx of just absolute trash niners bandwagoneers who followed Alex Smith here and crashed the bandwagon... then ran screaming and burning from out of the wreckage...

The rejection of Alex Smith and the ho-hum check downs , no td to WR , and continued playoff futility was also a rejection of the Alex stans.

if you weren't here , you don't get it. There are still remnants of these Alexian intruders lurking. They must be destroyed like the alien in "the Thing" or the infestation could begin anew

I have been here since the beginning of this place...I remember the Alex years and the frustration of being close yet failing to live to the teams fullest potential.

I also remember the prior 30+years of really crappy Chiefs history....people seem less angered by that than they are at the Alex years.....just seems odd to me.

Please reread your posts... you definitely show an animosity for the Alex Smith years....don't kid yourself. I do understand your frustration of not living up to the teams potential not being met.

We are nowhere near even...but if it makes your ego feel so much better that you had your "gotcha" moment by questioning my sexual preferences, please feel free to pat yourself on the back.

Here we go again. It was the insufferable Alex first fans that drew the ire, not Alex himself. It is true that fans were ready to move on from Alex because it was obvious to everyone that he wasn’t it. But it’s also true that fans appreciated his role in our return to respectability.

It was the Alexsexuals that told us that we didn’t know football and how stupid we all were for thinking we could do better than Alex. Then when Mahomes shut that narrative up with his play, we had to listen to them tell us how Mahomes owed his success to Alex Smith.

So glad that shit is in the past. They truly were insufferable.

The reality is that Mahomes has always had the talent...he has just needed some refinement. If I contribute his growth to anyone I would point to Andy more than anyone else.

I hated his weirdo fans, and I hated how people talked about him ("He is what he is!!!!") I hated him in 2013, and I hated his epic choke jobs. I gave him credit where credit was due throughout those years, though, and I already said I don't currently hate him as a person, particularly with how he handled Mahomes getting drafted.

I view him as a necessary pill to swallow in order to have what I have now. He's a means to an end. He's not on the same shit scale as Cassel, but he's also not a QB I look back on and think, "Man, it was an exciting and fun time to be a Chiefs fan when HE was the guy!" the way I would Trent Green or Montana.

I don't view that as hating Alex Smith, and that's me being 100% honest.
