True but pushing the antisemitism angle makes her either a) too lazy to find out what he actually said and the context of it or b) too stupid to understand it. Neither is excusable.

The context of what he said was that a recent antisemitism bill would enable law enforcement to arrest people for claiming Jews killed the Christ character. This is blatant misinformation. Why would Butker mislead impressionable students? Was he confused or misled?

Yes. Butker misunderstood the bill just like a huge number of others did. I won't give him a free pass for it but that's quite a bit different than accusing someone of antisemitism.

Make no mistake though, I'll call him out for being lazy for not doing his own research on that before putting it in his speech.

(Btw, he and others fail to realize the bill is the exact same wording as an executive order from years ago that is already being enforced. So basically, it's a giant nothing burger)

I can see the perspective of both people here. Butker was making the case that ultra orthodox Catholicism is under attack and using all the evidence he could find - true or not. Ms. Schwartz felt Jews were being persecuted and interpreted Butker’s comments as false information against a bill that would have worked to protect Jews.

Both probably wrong and misled. I don’t think we should call either stupid because misinformation affects everyone.

Being outraged about something you don’t understand is arguably worse than misunderstanding the implications of a law

I’d say you’re mischaracterizing something as outrage because Ms. Schwartz called Butker’s speech gross and backwards- hardly the language of someone that’s outraged. If you take that false characterization out of there, the things you are comparing are the same things. They both misunderstood something and spoke on it as fact.

You really graduated clown college at the top of the class didn’t you?
