I don't think anyone will disagree with any of that. Well said.

The third opportunity to deescalate was for Tyreek to not roll his window up. The fourth opportunity to de-escalate was by the second police officer who really overreacted pulling him out of the car and insulting him when he was on the ground. The fifth opportunity to deescalate was for the second cop to not pull Tyreek down so hard when he was standing on the curb. Tyreek certainly has experience being arrested and should know how to handle the situation, but the police officer has more experience and more of a training background in de-escalation, so his transgressions count double. That means we have three demerits against tyreke, and four demerits against the second officer. Therefore, I assign 44% blame to Tyreke and 56% to the police officer, though I feel like this is letting Tyreek off really easy. Tyreek was the guy who kept choosing to escalate the situation.
Pretty fair assessment although I think you have to also consider provocation versus threat. Tyreek was a threat on the road, which was addressed by the traffic stop. Think it’s universally agreed by now this was a legit traffic stop.

From there, tyreek provokes the officer but I think he’s keeping his hands on the wheel and he complies in providing ID. The only threat is putting the window up. And once the window is cracked open again, is he still a threat? Did the officer not give tyreek enough time to keep the window open? Or was the officer justified for fear that tyreek was gonna close the window again. It’s gray area but I feel like the cop was more annoyed than he was threatened. Which is some justification but to me doesn’t justify the extent that everything after that was physical. And it was largely one sided physical since tyreek isn’t really physically resisting arrest and seems to be scared into compliance.

So it still to me leans on tyreek being an idiot and a douche for egging it on. But the extent of the response was unwarranted.

I think everybody could agree that Hill was an asshole and could of handle the situation better. But Hill doesn't have the authority and power the police officers do. We should expect more from them than the citizen as it is literally their job.

I 100% get what your saying and I'd say about 99% of us believe that 2nd officer went a little more extreme than he needed too.

BUT anyone can see that the 2nd officer situation would have 100% never happened had Tyreek handled the situation differently himself.

I do feel that the first officer would have turned into that 2nd officer in a matter of time. Tyreek was not listening and even when the first officer asked Tyreek to exit his vehicle he wouldn't. I feel the first officer was very patient with Tyreek and his attitude. The 1st officer would not have lasted much longer before he stopped being patient...the 2nd officer didn't care and had zero problem not waiting on the 1st officer to take control.

I do wonder IF the 2nd officer was the one who came to Tyreek's window first if things would have went different versus the 2nd officer standing by watching his fellow officer get disrespected and flat out not listened too that allowed 2nd officer to get so upset.

Sounds like you might have experience with law enforcement? Can I ask what should have happened? Are you ok with how the 1st officer handled things? It looks like exactly the same thing would have happened as the 1st officer was the one who asked him to get out of his vehicle but when he did not comply that's when the 2nd officer took over.

What should have happened?

From the time the first officer asked Tyreek to exit the vehicle and the second officer was ripping open his door was under 5 seconds. 8-10 seconds after they first asked Tyreek to exit the vehicle he was on the ground being handcuffed.

Do you think they gave him any reasonable time to comply with their request?

Just watched another body cam video from multiple different officers that show start to ends(Tyreek walking away). About half way through the video Tyreek starts to talk back and lie to the officers. He then brings the race card out.

I'm so glade he does not represent Chiefs football any longer!

While yes I agree that was fast you also have to take into consideration that up to that point Tyreek was not doing what was asked of him with a timely manner. Why should the officers think he will all of a sudden do what is being asked of him when he has shown, up to that point, that he will not?

Ever think that maybe by the 2nd officer coming in and taking control DID actually deescalate the situation and actually make it to were both Tyreek and the 1st officer didn't get in a back and forth situation that could have turned very ugly?

It was Hill's previous behavior that led to his quick evacuation!

Didn't he also get detained and put in handcuffs?

What orders did Tyreek not comply with that lead to him being thrown on the ground and or in handcuffs? Then after they pulled him up the cop then put his hands around his neck and forced him back on the ground.

Being an asshole does not mean you lose your rights in the eyes of the law.

How would you feel if that was your wife or daughter and the police did that to them?

He offered to have his friend move it. By your own words he was nice and respectful.

But the cop on a power trip still detained him and put him in cuffs.
