**** OFFICIAL COLLEGE BOWL/PLAYOFF GAMES THREAD****

Bowl games have been pretty entertaining to watch so far. I think Indiana vs Notre Dame tomorrow *could* be an upset game

I don't get why some people are so upset about the format.

If it was just the top 4, it's not like the frauds like Indiana and Tennessee just disappear... Notre Dame/Indiana could have easily been a NYD bowl blowout. Ohio State vs Tennessee could have easily been a bowl game. What's the difference besides players opting out of those games?

And if people want to only watch the top 4 teams go at it.... uh, just wait and watch the games in a week and a half?

Yeah, they over-expanded, which is crazy given how long they've clutched the dumb bowl system. And yeah, the conference champs bye thing is dumb.

But, at least teams are advancing instead of beating the shit out of Indiana and then having nothing else to play for?

If that’s not textbook OPI, then I’m not sure what is.

I don’t think it’s a format issue or whatever. It’s the fact that the CFP has watered down the regular season. Top 4 BCS was perfect, because you always had that deserving third seed left out.

Now if they lose a game during the ref season, so what. Two loss teams will still get in, maybe 3 loss teams.

Give me the old BCS back

I don't mind 2-loss teams, because IMO a larger playoff format removes a lot of questions with SoS and different conferences, etc (I've personally thought 8 was more than enough for that purpose).

This year would have been really interesting with only 4 teams... Oregon, obviously. Georgia. Then you're either picking Notre Dame or one or two 2-loss teams.

The problem is giving ASU and Boise byes and being 10 point dogs.

The seeding will be fixed next year.

This new format is way better than the four team CFP.

It makes for more meaningful games at the end of the regular season, whereas 99% of teams were eliminated from a realistic CFP opportunity when it was just four teams.

Yep, they could really use games like SMU/Boise State in the first round, it would be far closer to play-in games... and yeah, they might still get destroyed the next round, but at least it's not across multiple games in multiple weekends.

Granted, there was also a B1G/SEC blowout, too.

Something like...
Indiana/SMU
Boise State/ASU
Clemson/Tennessee
Notre Dame/OSU

And then the byes would have been Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Penn State

Maybe more competitive the first weekend? Even if the winner of the first two or even 3 games all get destroyed the following week.
