Let's Talk about Houston (Divisional Round edition)

I'm guessing our game against Houston will be on Saturday....this is big, since it would give us an extra day before the AFCCG and either Buffalo/Baltimore would have to travel to Arrowhead.

Update: 3:30 CST, Saturday January 18

It never once felt in doubt or question. I get that it was a one score game at some point, but we never even trailed. I disagree I suppose.

Exactly what I was going to say. The game was tight in the first half until the Chiefs spammed those quick plays. It wasn't ever really "in doubt".

The Dell injury changed the momentum. True he wont be playing in this game. Prior to that injury the Texans were absolutely in the game. I expect they will be better prepared and adjusted for this game without Dell.

I’ll be nervous for this one like I am every game but this is truly one of those games we should win pretty comfortably. Like a 26-17 kind of deal.

If we don’t win this one I will be extremely disappointed.

Do that, and it’s a greater chance of victory. Last year @ Buffalo the Chiefs win going away if Hardman doesn’t bungle that sweep. Had to overcome two in the SB, but got one back and scored their 1st points on that punt the 9ers botched.

This is a smart, experienced, veteran laden team with a full extra season of playoff experience. The simple things, details matter to them.

Also: control Mixon. Everything has to go through him now that Dell is out.
Expect an easy win.

I believe we trailed 10-7 early in the 2nd quarter.

Even after Dell's injury, it was a one score game with several minutes left. But that's par for the course as we've discussed before. The Chiefs usually play close games.

By most NFL standards, it was a competitive game. I think we're a little de-sensitized by all of the Hollywood-script insane endings we've seen this year. Plus we just assume the Chiefs aren't going to do something boneheaded and give the game away in the final minutes, as many NFL teams do in a one-score game.

Let's Talk about Houston (Divisional Round edition)

I honestly don’t see how they score more than 17 points. They basically are just Collins and Mixon. But we defend the run well and number 1 receivers almost never do much against us. On offense we will just get 8 yards whenever we want as they expand a lot of effort rushing Mahomes vacating areas. Herbert simply had no idea what to do but Mahomes will make the easy plays.

And the reality is this is basically our first game of the season due to how different our offensive personnel is which really hasn’t been seen by any defense yet.

I fully expect at least 31 points with taking the last few drives off. And I won’t be surprised if we score over 30 points every game to win it all after all the talk all season about us not scoring 31 points.

High of 25 and a low of 9 with winds from 10-20 mph. You’re probably looking at weather in the teens with a windchill around 10 degrees at kickoff.

Big advantage for us against a dome team that doesn’t ever play in weather like this.

Just as long as Mahomes helmet stays intact, we will be good.
