Has anyone considered that maybe the Texans shouldn’t go head hunting on QBs who are sliding because of the possibility of a penalty?

Maybe just don’t do that anymore?

Even though on the second RTP hit they didn't hit Pat, it was OBVIOUS They were launching at him helmet first.

Which is why they hit each other in the helmet. Pat went under it.

So yeah, maybe if they stopped trying to take cheap shots they wouldn't get these flags.

I was thinking at the time, it probably shouldn't be a yardage penalty on your own team for friendly fire headshots, but you should still get a fine if you lead with your head, miss, and blast a teammate instead

The more I think about this, the Texans are a very dirty team (you can see it in their play) and I think Patrick and Reid knew it and played conservative as a result to just keep him healthy. Check out these NFL penalty stats...you can see the Texans play dirty based on how they are penalized defensively and they should be ashamed. The two roughing the passer calls were correct too...

BTW, the Chiefs are just on the average in terms of penalty differential - no special treatment at all (compared to the Bills and Vikings who do get special treatment).

Also, the Chiefs offense was the second highest penalized offense in the league...yeah special treatment for Patrick - not!

I was just making this point in another thread. Piggy-backing in what you're saying here I'd also ask why lower your head as you hit Mahomes when you believe that Mahomes is protected and gets all the calls?
