First series of the game Mahomes had Worthy down the left sideline for what may have been a TD because Worthy had a few steps on Mitchell. Mahomes shied away and pulled it down. This has been a theme with Mahomes lately. It’s like he’s playing too tight.

when you are uncomfortable in the pocket as Mahomes has been the past few seasons, you are going to get gun shy.

And I'm sorry for those who disagree, but Veach failed him in getting him garbage at LT and RT. Literally, the most important positions on the team other than QB...

Yes sir. And because of it, he's being coached to take the check down.

Im sure thats part of it but on that particular play, Mahomes had time. I think it was less about trusting his Oline and more about the continued shift away from taking risks and being the gunslinger he was six or seven years ago.

Now, there's nothing wrong with him maturing as a QB and being a better decision-maker, mind you. One would expect that as part of his growth and it'd be extremely difficult to argue with the results over that six or seven year span.

However, Mahomes shouldn"t become so risk-averse that he's leaving big, outcome-altering plays on the field in the biggest game of his career and no longer take the shots that propelled him to greatness to begin with.

It seemed he didn't revert to the "Old Mahomes" until he had absolutely no choice and the game was completely out of reach. That shouldn't be the case. Perhaps better protection solves this but I somewhat fear it's irreversible mental conditioning and an Alex-Smith-ification of how he plays the game.

This is on the coaching staff though. We see mahomes playing more conservative. The coaches have to see it too. So maybe don't design a gameplan that asks him to let er rip or at least have a backup plan in case he starts playing tight. I still wonder why we didn't try to use worthy on sweeps early to counter that aggressive pass rush.

This is just stupid. Mahomes wasn't gunshy to end the season or against the Texans or Bills.

He just had a bad game.

People are knee jerking right now.

Perhaps he's trying too hard to be like Brady, whose style of play was boring as vanilla. Brady made a living off of being Captain Check Down.

O.City wants to trade Mahomes.

He won’t outright say it but he’s strongly inferring it with every post about his salary, unrealistic expectations and his apparent shitty play.

He played worse in that Super Bowl than he had played in months. YPA was high to end the season and in the playoffs. Went from 6.8 during the season to 8.2 during the two playoff games. Go **** yourself.

Are you 12?

He's on the best track in the history of QB's in terms of success, sorry I don't wanna knee cap him with saying he needs all this help when he's shown in the past he doesn't.

He played at an MVP level in 22.

Hasn't done it since, save for a few spots.

Maybe some should hold him to a higher standard, he certainly holds himself to it.

Of course he got gunshy in the SB.... it wouldn't have mattered if the Bills rushed 11 in the AFCCG, he was getting the ball out so quickly. He shot himself in the foot several times in the SB by holding onto the ball too long and sometimes even running into the pressure. Same issues as the regular season beyond the offensive line issues and the times in the SB when he seriously had zero chance to do anything (and of course the play calling sucked, they never adjusted, etc.)

It clearly wasn't the only issue or even a top 2 issue... but it was an issue for sure.
