I've seen several people make mentions of F1 on here. So, I'm giving us a thread. No more Speed bs coverage. NBC looks like they are taking it serious and will have some good coverage.

With DVRs now, it's no longer a pain in the ass to watch the races. So watch them and discuss

Holy Hell Ferrari is bad.

Think it's a 4 horse race for WDC, with Russell having a slim chance.

Lando is still clearly better at managing his tires, but he has a huge error every weekend. Realistically it's down to him, Piastri, and Verstappen, and I think Verstappen knows he can bully Lando, but can't get into Piastri's head, so I think Piastri will win it this season.

Ferrari took a step back this season. I had hoped for better but was not a fan of Lewis coming on board. Gotta give it to McLaren. They look to have it figured out and I am a big fan of Zak Brown.

I still think Lando figures it out and takes the Drivers Championship. I am going with McLaren Constructors Champ and Drivers finishing 1 and 2.

That was embarrassing. They put Lewis behind when his mediums were at their peak, then put Charles behind when his hards were optimal. Just bafflingly amateurish management. The poor communication makes it obvious that it wasn't a strategy decision, either. They're just that clueless.

Lando and Oscar are roughly even on skill, but Oscar is way more mentally disciplined. You put pressure on Lando and he will usually make a mistake. Oscar is ice cold. He has that Raikonnen cold-blooded mindset in him.

It's going to be Oscar this year. Lando and Max will keep things interesting, though. George is still a dark horse, but I think he's likely too far behind to catch up in points at this point.

That dude annoys the shit out of me. In every single possible way. Even his ****ing bird pose thing during the driver intros is just the most George Russell thing imaginable.

But damn he's been stellar this year.

As for Ferrari - yeah, it's time to pivot to the next regulation set. They're done this season - just start developing for 2026. I don't know how you got this much worse but...it's Ferrari. So yeah.

I don't know if I truly dislike any of the current drivers as a person. I used to think Ocon was a weaselly little shit but he's mellowed out since all the Gasley stuff. Max annoys me from his hyper-competitiveness but I have to respect that. The only one I'd say I really don't like is Lawson. The guy is just soooo smug.

He has a little bit of that Matt Cassel 'howdy doodie' goofiness to him that's just kinda worn itself thin. Folks used to like it as a bit of a welcome change from the whinging from Hamilton and Verstappen.

Now it just looks/sounds artificially earnest at times.

Also, the guy just constantly rags on himself. He's the most dour driver out there. I think people contrast that with Piastri who has that bit of Raikkonen "I was having a shit" attitude where he just doesn't seem too riled up about anything at all.

And part of it may be the fact that there's a pretty good argument that the pre-season championship favorite is about the 6th best driver on the grid. Max, LeClerc, Piastri, right now Russell and honestly Antonelli is just putting up fantastic performances week in, week out, and looking better and better every week.

Then you have hangdog Norris out there in a goddamn rocket ship who can't seem to race wheel to wheel at all and if you're anyone that ISN'T a fan of Norris (or McLaren) you just sit there thinking "Damn, I wish MY driver had that kind of car under him right now...stupid boring mopey Lando is just wasting it..."

I'd KILL to see Charles in that McLaren right now (or more accurately, see that McLaren parked in Charles paddock at Ferrari). So in a sense, it's less that I dislike Norris and more that I wish the guy with the equipment to bury Max in this championship and truly take him out of our hair just refuses to do so and keeps letting him hang around.

Go wring that Dutchman's neck like your car SAYS you should and I'll have fewer complaints, Lando.

I think that's a good take. Lando isn't mentally strong enough (yet? IDK if that can be fixed?) to consistently take on Verstappen. Piastri is just a machine. Nothing bothers him. He's Verstappen's nightmare, I think...talented driver with a better car that can't be bullied.

Piastri and LeClerc are the only two drivers out there who are completely non-plussed by Verstappen.

Antonelli might be. He might just be too young to know any better.

Russell...hard to say. He's rarely in similar equipment to Max. But as a general rule, he can be a bit frenetic. I don't like his odds in a showdown with Max.

There are two guys out there that have the defensive chops and offensive guile to really challenge Verstappen. The last two weeks have shown exactly what Piastri is all about, both with his attack/defend in the first turn at Jeddah and his rope-a-dope in Miami.

He'll take it to Max. And if Max gets his elbows out, Piastri will just run into him. I don't think he's too worried about taking them both out a time or two to send a message. He has the confidence in himself to think he can afford to do so and still hold off Norris.

Charles "Just An Inchident On The Race" LeClerc has never been bothered by Max.

Lando has been shooting himself in the foot the entire season for sure and then has had to make chicken salad out of his own shit but he's a great driver. I just can't hate on him. AK is the future, though.
