*****Official 2025 Royals Season Repository Thread*****

Coming off an American League Divisional Series appearance, its year 3 of Matt Quatraro tenure. Can they take the next step to a division title? Can Bobby Witt, Jr. take his superstar status to another level? Can Cole Ragans develop more? Will the other starting pitching duplicate last season? The offense can it deliver more? Who will be in the outfield? How about the new stadium development?

Dude has been positively stellar in the early returns, and if he does indeed stick, and keeps up even close to this pace, we've got a ROY candidate, and probably two when Jac gets called up and hits .400 with 40 homers to close out the end of June to September.
I would like to see if Cameron can continue this as well.

In his 3 best seasons in baseball, he's struck out 208 times, 175 times and 171 times.

In other words . . . . . bring on the strikeouts. Don't care.

As long as he produces for this lineup with power numbers consistently, ZERO shits given.
And there is no way Cags will strike out at that rate, either. IMO modern baseball scouting is terrified he might not be good because he chases. Im less concerned with chase rate when you can hit a baseball and Cags has enough of a hit tool and plate coverage to be dangerous despite that.

Speaking of Judge. The ****ing dude is just hitting out of his God damn mind right now and is easily the #1 player in baseball. We're right at 1/3 of the way through the season and he is hitting .395/.488/.746/1.234. He's hitting like roided out Barry Bonds right now. ****, you could say what he's doing is more impressive than what Bonds is doing, because Judge isn't gonna have 200 walks a season to inflate his OBP.

Judge's BABIP is ****ing .467. So basically if he puts it in play he's almost got a 50/50 chance of it being a hit. An entire 1/3 of a season is over and he's got a BABIP that high.

Right now he's 73 points higher than his best BA, OBP is 30 points higher than his best, and his slg is 45 points higher than his career high.

Is he juicing?
Judge did strike out 171 times last year, but the thing with him is when he doesn't strike out, literally over half the time he's getting on base. You normally don't want anyone striking out that much but he does so much damage in the other ABs it's worth it. That's a tall mountain for anyone else to climb. The Royals have always favored contact and for a small market team that's a good path to take because there's a lot of track record of that leading to success. I still think the Astros leaned in more on making contact after we beat them in 15 and it led to some of their success.

It’s always been this way for MLB sluggers. Many of the great powers hitters struck out a lot. Their job isn’t to be a bat on ball technician like Tony Gwynn or Brett.

Bob Fescoe was on the radio and basically guaranteed the Royals are moving to the Overland Park Aspira old sprint campus.

He is one of the biggest idiots I've ever listened to but he was very confident.

So many they will get something done in Missouri after all.

Missouri Governor Kehoe called a special session and brought back the state reps and is telling them to get something done in regards to the state paying for pro sports teams stadiums. Who knows if they'll get it done, but I don't think they're going to OP.

George Brett wasn't a slap hitting, singles queen like Tony Gwynn. Tony Gwynn had a .120 ISO which was 22 points below league average. George Brett OTOH had a .183 ISO, which was 56 points higher than average. If you look at each ones per 162 game average Brett averaged 189 hits and 67 of those were extra base hits, so 35.4%. Gwynn averaged 209 hits and 51 were extra base hits or 24 4%.

Gwynn played like a softball player.

He’s going to have to threaten to line-item veto things to hurt congresspeople who won’t get in line.

I’m not optimistic that works.

this is correct.

As a pure hitter (goal to get on base via the bat), Gwynn was probably the best.

But all-around, Brett was better.

True. Gwynn, Rod Carew or Rose. All slap hitters who knew how to make contact obviously
