Maybe I'll have to give Whitlock the benefit of the doubt, as I don't have Tagliabue's words in front of me, but if I remember correctly, that wasn't the statement Tags made.

A reporter asked him what he thought about Jacksonville covering a large portion of seats, bringing the available seating down. Tagliabue thought it was smart, since it would bring the capacity closer to what the average is for new stadiums. He then mentioned that Jacksonville as a small market team has difficulties that aren't unique to them. He then only mentioned Kansas City as another small market team that has faced obstacles and done well. He also mentioned Buffalo, if I remember correctly.

I certainly don't remember him saying Arrowhead was a possible SB site, though that wasn't the entire point of this article.

I seriously doubt that they will put the Superbowl in a cold weather atmosphere like Kansas City. Retractable roof and all. Its just a lure to get KC to build a new staduim. Which i think it does need improved or rebuilt.

I'm just trying to picture what KCI would look like trying to handle all the flights and passengers flying into KC if the Super Bowl was there, wouldn't be pretty IMO

I don't think KC has the infrastructure and hotels necessary to host a Super Bowl, and unlike Jacksonville they can't just bring in a bunch of cruise ships and make them makeshift hotels.

Apparently Whitlock couldn't come up with anything interesting or realistic to write about today.

I'm an air traffic controler who works the airspace over San Diego and let me tell you, it was nuts! We had planes landing at Lindberg, Navy North Island, Montgomery, Gillespie and Palomar and Brown Field. KCI has a nice layout to handle increased traffic, but I think they lack the necessary amount of satellite airports to handle the amount of smaller air traffic.

After everybody left San Diego we had a five hour snap shot of departures out of the area which basically had three lines of airplanes eminating out of San Diego: One north to the Bay Area (the loser's trail) one to Tampa Bay (the winner's trail), and one towards New York (the money trail).

The coldest Super Bowl ever was in Detroit and they get it again next year.
