So Who's a Goner?

Obviously we've added some new faces to the team, and as a result, some guys will be packing their bags also. We can throw out obvious names like Morton, but considering we haven't gone out and got a replacement for him, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking a large number of the cuts will be depth guys, although some of the more expensive '04 starters could be cut loose too.

Here are our current players at positions we've made additions to:

LB:
*Bell
Fujita
Barber
Mitchell
Fox
Mazlowski
Scanlon

This seems like the easiest one. With Maz a likely injury settlement, he'll be the one making room for Bell. Beisel wasn't even listed on the roster, which was updated enough to have yesterday's addition of Carlos Hall. Could that be a sign? Don't let the door hit you on the ass Monty...

Safety:
*Knight
Woods
Wesley
Harts
Pile
Connot (listed as DB, but I think he's a safety)
Crouch (hahahaha)

This is a bit tougher. My guess is we could cut whoever loses in the battle for starting FS, as an economic move. However, both Woods and Wesley are early in their contract, so maybe the team won't be willing to take the hit, or give up on them so easily. Harts and Pile have been respectable as back-ups, and I doubt Connot would make the roster anyway. We could cut someone from our glut of CBs as well.

D-line:
*Hall
Hicks
Sims
Dalton
Allen
Browning
Siavii
Jabari (who?)
Sharpe
Stills
Walker
Wilkerson

This is another tough one. After the TC fodder (Jabari and Walker), there's no one that's clearly the odd man out. If Stills wasn't so solid on ST, I'd say him. We're still waiting for Wilkerson to blossom. Of course the fans would appear to want Hicks gone, but I just don't see it happening. My guess is Montique Sharpe, unless something happens in TC.

IMO, it will be interesting to seee how this year's roster shapes up. If we get Johnson, I fully expect Morton to be gone. But if we don't, I think we keep him. There's a few other young WRs that may not get a chance. Obviously there's a long list of CBs that should get a pink slip, but past experience indicates that Vermeil keeps a sh*t-ton of defensive backs every year. We still need help at FB, with Joe Hall being the current back-up to T-rich. And we're not even looking for room for the draft picks yet...

Beisel is an unrestricted free agent so he's not a Chief at this point in time.

Maz should be out, but Barber could be out too due to his injury. Also, it is a DISGRACE to have Scanlon on this roster!!! :-)

Obviously, Crouch and Connot should get another job at Taco Bell or something. But, I'd like to see us trade Woods for something. Maybe package with a 4th round pick to Miami for Surtain since they lost Knight to us.

There's a lot to trim on the D-line. Walker and Jabari will be gone. I don't know what eveyone sees in Browning. I would not shed a tear if he's gone. Also, I think Stills is in jeopardy. Hall is a pass rush specialist like Stills. We can't keep both, can we? We traded Truluck for this reason. Maybe we can get a 6th round pick for Stills? Sharpe could go for all I care too.

Like I said.
He was a STs stud in '03.
I thought his play really fell off last year, and that he didn't belong in the the PB at the end of the season, but he had that recognition from '03.

Which would explain why he made the '03 probowl, and not the '04 one.

They already replaced him. The Packers on the other hand have 2 saftey spots to fill.

I understand that '04 wasn't his best year and you're right that he may be gone. He's just not among the first names on the cut list in my book.

I would cut Mighty Mouse II (McCleon) so fast, we do not need any shrimps trying to cover receivers that are a foot taller than they are anymore!
Maz needs to go and it is too bad. The 53 man roster only has room for so many specialists, I think Stills needs to go since we kept Gammon. JMO

If we get Surtain, and draft a corner in the first, then I would not be surprised to see both McPassOn and Bartee get the axe.

I'd like to see someone who can contribute both on STs, and in the defensive rotation.

If he can't be replaced on STs, then by all means keep him.
But don't put him out on the field on D, he contributes absolutely nothing there.

I feel very confident that we will get Surtain. If we release Bartee what will the cap hit be? I personally do not know what he is good for, he is definatly not a corner. We have a log jam now at safety without him being in the mix.

I've come to firmly believe that when Mike Stock left the organiztion he gave those photos to Bartee.

Wow when you look at it like this, I do not want any of them. Now I see why so many say we need additional CB help. Duh, thanks for making this plain and simple for me.

I think Beisel will move on, Barber will not be ready ( PUP ).

You'll probally see Fox, or Mitchell in RLB.

Oh, you forgot to mention Scanlon as the backup MLB.
