Sweet Chocolate Jesus. WTF happened to the good old marching band?

Bob Dole would much rather watch a high quality marching band than watch Maria Carey (or any other overpriced diva) swivel around and lip-sync to overmixed, studio produced, fluffy crap.

Why would the NFL teams need to have their own marching bands for them to be featured at halftime? Do NFL teams have their own Mariah Careys, Shania Twains and Janet Jacksons?

Super Bowls I, II, III, V, VII, VIII, IX, XV and XVIII all had halftime shows that featured college marching bands.
