Without getting into the old school argument of relief pitchers and starters trowing more innings, since I have been watching baseball Rivera is easily the best I have seen.

There have been short periods where closers were better but they didnt last more than a year or two the level Rivera has been for his career. Rivera is easily the best and has been even better in the playoffs.

I can't stand the Yankees but when I think of a unhitable pitch, Rivera's 95 mph cutter is the first that comes to mind.

You mean hit with authority. It is very hittable, you just end up with a broken bat. When i think of unhittable i think randy johnsons 90 mph slider in his hayday

I was thinking of typing something like this, but you said it better anyway. I, too, hate the MFY, but you gotta tip your cap to Rivera: the dude gets it done year after year after year.
