I need some words for a friend who just lost a pet - Page 2

A close co-worker of mine just had to put her dog to sleep. The poor thing got a cancer which developed so quickly that within three days of noticing a growth, they took him in and he was too far gone to be saved.
A Rotweiler.

I bought a sympathy card today which is blank inside. I am not sure what to write. But since all of you are such sincere, empathetic and thoughtful advice givers, (especially the night crew, and Milkman, Bill Parcells, Taco John, ENDelt, HalfCan, Greg63, et al) I thought I would ask you folks for advice on what I should write in the card.

My wife and I were CRUSHED after we had to put our dog down about 1.5 years ago. Our cat was put down 1 year ago and since we've replaced the cat with a black fuzzy cat. yes its name is fuzzy

Or tell them to look at the bright side
1) No more shit on the carpet.
2) you won't have to be jealous of the dog when you find it humping your old lady anymore.
3) No more fleas in the house
4) Think of all the money you will save on Dog Food.
5) No more piss on the chair leg
6)You won't have to worry about stepping in shit and tracking it back to work and everybody looking at you cause you smell like shit

I could go on but I have to go back to work.

The empathy in this thread is about par for the CP.

There is a website called Rainbow Bridge that has good info for folks who are greiving for a lost pet. Or you could make a donation to your local animal shelter in your friend's name. Just letting your freind know you're thinking about him and feel for his loss is very thoughtful of you.

I lost one of my kitties last week to feline HIV. I had him for six years and he was one of my best friends. I miss him very much.

Sort of. It's a virus that a lot of strays and feral cats get. It can be passed with a scratch or bite from one cat to another. There is no cure. Bad stuff.
