I've been a drummer since I was 14, taught myself to play bass for a few years, several years ago and am talking my wife into "allowing" or "authorizing" getting a guitar and taking some lessons.

I'll probably start with Acoustic, however I am open to suggestions on a good starter guitar, or should I go electric?

BTW, I'm interested in learning, John Cougar, Eric Clapton, classic rock style songs.
