Clayton on Trent. espn radio. 9:50pm.

Dolphins aren't interested in a trade.

Trent is pleading to Peterson to let him go.

Peterson is waiting for a pick that's not coming.

Dolphins will just wait for him to be cut.

Even if it CAN be read that way, it's still denigrating to the existing players on this team. There's no way to spin this that makes it not a derogatory comment.

I can't tell you how many times on these threads I've read, "I used to like Trent Green..." or "I used to think Trent was a leader..." Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I just don't see the statements Trent made being antithetical to being a leader.
Pretty simply, I thought Trent was above this kinda stuff. Maybe I just had unrealistic expectations.

Of course, that's not even remotely close to what he said.

He said that the Chiefs want to make changes IN PHILOSOPHY that may or may not be dumb.

He went on to say that THAT is the reason they're bringing in younger players - because said younger players won't question what's going on.

Speaking of the Hicks situation................... I just can't believe those Dolphins. Those bastards.

Hanging on to Dante Culpepper like this. He is still rehabing and attending mini camp even though he isn't an air coryell qb and it's pretty obvious he is just a pawn until they get Green.

He doesn't even know who his next team will be. Or where his family will live or his kids will go to school.

Life is so unfair.

Yet he isn't going on local radio blasting the fins. He does get plenty of air time and all he talks about is his what he thinks his skills are and how his knee is getting better. Hell, he doesn't have his agent talking either because he is his own agent.

Plus he owes his current team nothing. His short career there has been less than stellar.

Will someone please tell me who the players who Green talks to that seem to be confused or unsure of what is going on. I think it is safe to assume they are on the offense.

Other than Wiegmann or Samie Parker I can't think of any.

This whole interview came down to a few things.
Carl said A and then did B to him and basicly the same with Hicks. Carl telling them that they were going in a different direction when asked and not doing anything until it is late in FA making it very hard for Hicks to find a job.
If someone had done this to anyone here they would be pissed off too. We all need employment.

Carl ****ed this all up IMO. He shot his mouth off and then found the bullet in his big toe.

Carl's biggest mistake was being nice to Green. In any normal situation, a team would get a trade deal done and THEN tell the player to negotiate his contract. Carl, out of reverence for what Trent Green has done here as a player, allowed Green to work with Miami prior to having the trade parameters down.

As for Hicks finding a job, guy like Eric Hicks get jobs after June 1st EVERY YEAR. This idea that it's somehow harder for him to find work now is ridiculous.

He was the Chiefs team leader for the last 6 years. He was the only team leader.

Plus, you are making a mountain out of a molehill. The young guys don't have the experience and haven't gone through coaching changes to see the way things are being handled. Trent's been with several teams and said that on other teams things were handled differently. He agreed that they do not HAVE to run things by him but teams usually give veteran players a certain amount of respect and do run things by them.

It is amusing that KC coaches and players learn everything from the internet. He said he was in the facility for 7 weeks after the season ended. He was rehabbing his ankle. Even though he was in the building every day he was hearing on the internet all the news about a restructure. The team didn't have the decency to come up to him and talk about it until weeks later.

So, Trent is in the facility every day. He isn't given the courtesy of a heads up on changes, which most teams give. He hears about restructuring on the internet weeks before Carl finally speaks with him and broaches the subject. He's told and he's been hearing from Herm that the Chiefs want to get younger and give Croyle every opportunity to be the starter and get the majority of snaps. They want him to be a backup and take a huge paycut. All of that and Green is now the bad guy for wanting a decent chance to start on another team?

Q: Herm, back on December 25th you were asked if Trent Green was your starter going into next season and you said, ‘yeah, why wouldn’t he be?’ Have you changed your mind on that?

EDWARDS: No, I have not.”

Nope.

Not in my mind.

And I've made that perfectly clear SEVERAL times.

Nobody was going to trade for him with his current contract.

Stop it with the silly Carl was doing Trent a favor crap. Carl wanted to get a draft pick out of a player they are going to cut.
