BTW, a great novel with a coyote as the centerpiece is Barbara Kingsolver's The Prodigal Summer.

The coons, possums, etc. aren't a threat to the dogs. But, now that you mention them... I should just go on a massacre of all worthless animals out there. Except the deer and turkeys, cause they make a good fixin on the dinner table.. yum!
