LOS ANGELES -- Bryant Gumbel has given up his role as an NFL Network play-by-play announcer after two seasons.

The NFL Network said Friday it was looking for a new play-by-play announcer to work with Cris Collinsworth on the network's Thursday and Saturday night games.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me," Gumbel said in a statement. "But we've agreed that we'd all be better served going in different directions."

Gumble came to mind when I recently caught Drew Carey hosting on the Price Is Right show, for they both have great talent to get where they are now, but they are like two fish out of water on their latest adventures........just horrid.

I caught PiR last night and thought Carey was HORRIBLE. I can't believe they saw him as a viable replacement for Barker. He has no energy, no enthusiasm and comes off like damn robot. Completely uninterested in what he is doing.

My wife used to watch PiR every day, now with Carey as host, she just can't bear to watch.

I've never been a Dan Patrick fan, but when there was some discussion that he might be Barker's replacement, I thought it would have been a great fit.
