There's way too many "what ifs" to consider the team even close to sniffing the playoffs. Herm would have to be coach of the year. You all do realize we will have AT LEAST TWELVE ROOKIES making the team, right? Add Croyle's learning curve(he still hasn't performed at a starting QB level, yet) and a new offense being installed. Plus still many holes to still fill and I think some are living in lala land.

I want you guys to explain to me why you are all picking the Chiefs to beat the Bills, half their team was on IR yet they still had a decent year...that game is almost a sure loss and picking the Chiefs to win any road games at all is iffy, it's a young inexperienced bad team.

We almost (perhaps should have) beat the Colts on the road last year with a much older and injured team, yet beating the Bills is outlandish?...

And beating Tampa, honestly we shouldn't be projecting any wins against teams that made the playoffs.
Honest question Mecca, The Chiefs finished 13th in total defense last year. I expect them to be a top 10 defense this year. In fact it's not outside the realm to think that they could end up a top 5 defense with the addition of Dorsey, Flowers and Morgan and when they get up to speed. Granted Allen's production will be hard to replace but shouldn't be THAT big to expect at least 7 sacks and a capable run stopper out of whom ever replaces the RDE spot. That said if the _ffense can average 20 pts per game we COULD possibly win 7-8 games alone on a defense heavy team.

IMO, the defense will be doing good to hold position.

RDE - worse than Allen
2 DTs - improvement with the addition of Dorsey, Tank making huge strides would be huge, but I'm not banking on it.
LDE - worese that Ali (assuming that Ali slides to RDE)
ROLB - worse as Donnie Edwards becomes another year older
MLB - about the same, but a weakness
LOLB - about the same, a strength
CB - we'll do good to break even with a rookie and an older Surtain. Law wasn't good, but he wasn't as bad as some people want to paint him.
S - who knows. It was a weakness last year. Will Pollard and Page improve? Will Morgan win a starting spot and be effective as a rookie?

We're at least 1 year experience and a few players (OLB, MLB, CB, pass rusher, at least) from having a defense that is anything but ordinary. Talk of top 5 is crazy talk.

If Boone moves outside to LE full time, I think it might have a big impact on how well the DTs play.

ESPN has KC ranked at #30 in the latest Power Poll. If your prediction comes true, the 29 teams ranked ahead of you will probably have records of 10-6 or better. This season is setting up to be the most astounding, amazing, incredible year in the history of the NFL!! Just imagine the mindbending playoff tiebreakers with 30 teams going 10-6 or better!

How so? Last year he was our best starting DT, at least the first half of the season. I expect Dorsey to out perform him from day 1, but moving him to DE just makes the DT postion weaker, since he is the starter apparent. He's not built like a DE at all. By doing that, it tells me that the Chiefs don't feel they have 2 legitimate starters at DE and are biding time until they do.
