As a kid, (I was about 8 or 9 when Empire came out) I was insanely jealous of Han for getting to swap spit with Leah...therefore I hated that movie at the time...
...in retrospect, it was the best of the series, but IMO followed closely by Sith. It moved along really fast, but it kind of had to. Hayden LOOKED great for the part of youthful Anakin, but his acting blows goats. My order of best to worst would be Empire, Sith, Hope, Clones, and it's a toss up between Jedi and Phantom.

Then how do you explain him in other movies?
Personally, I think he's a horrific actor. Anecdote: I was working out at my gym in 2002, just before the release of AOTC. And while I was on the exercise bike, Hayden comes in and chooses the bike the right next me. We had a brief conversation (nothing important). I talked to a director friend of mine later that night and told him that I ran into Hayden at the gym. His response: "Was he unconvincing as himself?" ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I've always felt that RotJ had the best PARTS of all the movies - the scenes between the Emperor, Vader and Luke. The scene where Luke charges out of hiding, attacks Vader and backs him across the room is the apex of the entire series. I remember sitting in the theater gape-jawed the first time I saw it.
Unfortunately, it was all mixed up with the killer teddy bear horseshit. ![]() And for all the punks who think the special effects in the original Star Wars suck, you have no idea how groundbreaking they were at the time. You're all spoiled by CGI and take it all for granted, but that movie changed everything. The thrill of watching the opening scene in dark theater as a little kid lost in wide-eyed wonder is something you'll never experience, and it's your loss. |

I'm totally with on Star Wars (1977) and Empire Strikes Back (which I saw on opening day at the Midland Theater in downtown KC). But Return was just a mess. Lucas had been sick at the time, wrote a poor story, didn't oversee the script and hired the wrong director. IMO, it was a completely pitiful way to end a six-story arc. |

Wow, I remember seeing Empire downtown at that theater too. I dont think it was opening day, but i remember waiting in a huge long liine with my mom and best friend. People dont really have to do that anymore since big movies play on soo many screens these days. Ahhh...the good ole days. ![]()

Keanu is kind of "campy". A very guilty pleasure of mine is "Point Break". Even though his acting is awful, I can never turn that movie off once it's on my TV. I can't say that about any of Hayden's performances and his scenes in the prequel are extremely difficult for me to watch. Why didn't ANYONE notice that while filming? Even Spielberg thinks Hayden is "special". Special at what, exactly? |

Haden is plain terrible, its hard to say why those greats like him...i always want to laugh at him in the fight scene in "Sith"...where he's supposed to be angry & arguing with Padme & Obi-Wan..."YOUR. TRYING. TO. TURN. HER. AGAINST. ME." HAHAHA |

What should have been epic scenes are campy, corny and contrite. Why couldn't Lucas have hired Ryan Gosseling instead? |
