![]() I'm an advocate of decriminalization of marijuana and pretty much any other intoxicant. Treat 'em like alcohol. Legalize it all, tax it, and get rid of the profit motive that drives the black market and the violence that comes with it. The war on drugs is as stupid as the 18th amendment was, and has the same problems magnified. My only problem is with idiots who get behind the wheel when they are drunk, high, or otherwise altered. When you have someone you loved killed by an idiot that had been drinking (but still blew "under" the limit) and was stoned, then you come talk to me about how ridiculous DUI/DWI laws are. I'm just happy they drug tested the asshole and confirmed he'd been using and nailed him on DUI, possession, and vehicular homicide. I won't apologize for my disgust and hatred of those idiots. AFAICS, every time they get behind the wheel f*ucked up, they are saying that getting high/drunk/whatever is more important than the safety of everyone else they share the road with. That's as selfish as it gets, IMO. Agreed. That said, contracting gonorrhea is better than getting herpes, which is better than getting AIDS. Doesn't really make any of them a good thing though.

In addition, people who are "conditioned" to pot, meaning the ones that have smoked daily for years are no danger on the roads. It's less intoxicating than pain pills to those people. |

When the cop informed me 1) The guy reeked of it, 2) Was in posession, and 3) failed a blood test for MJ, and 4) blew just under "legally intoxicated" on a breathalyzer, I don't have any problem with them adding DUI and possession to the vehicular homicide charges. Frankly, I wish they would have nailed the f**khead for murder. If you've been drinking, smoking, whatever, stay the f*** away from behind the wheel. If you can't you're just showing a level of selfishness I can't fathom (my buzz is more important than the safety of others). Do whatever the hell you want, just not in a way that can affect others. I can't believe how many people seem to be defending DUI/DWI. ![]() ![]() I don't have a problem with an open container in public, be it alcohol or your hypothetical pot example. My only problem is with idiots that get behind the wheel with one.
