Vote of Confidence.

Coach Herm Edwards on the team being better with Huard at the helm.

“I don’t know that,” Edwards said. “We lost the game with Damon playing half the game. We’ve got to score more points. I know that. We’ve got to get more drives going. We had too many three-and-outs early in the game.”

Offensive Coordinator Chan Gaily on the team being better with Huard at the helm.

“Today, we’re a better team with Damon because Brodie is hurt,” offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said. “Before the game, we were a better team with Brodie. That’s why he was the starter. The fact we scored immediately when Damon came in, I don’t think that says anything about the situation. We had made some adjustments, cleaned some things up. We were starting to run the ball better.

“We’ve just got to keep doing that. We’ve got to keep getting better, and we’ll have to do it with Damon as our quarterback.”
Way to rally behind your starter.

Goddamn mother****ing Herm. If you know you have to move the ball, let the offensive coordinator do his job. JFC the game plan did not change one iota from Solari to Chan. That suggests that Herm is the root cause for the reason he fired Solari.

So what I really want to know is this....

Does our offense look like crap when Brodie is in....because Brodie sucks....or is it because they handcuff him with their playcalling?

Anyone who has played football understands their point--or at least why they are saying that.

Nothing at all wrong with that IMHO. It may light a fire or give incentive to Huard to show up and do his best (something I don't think he's done since he signed that fat contract before last season.) Otherwise, we should start looking at Thigpen or someone else to do what Huard seems incapable/unwilling to do.

I think it's more the second, than the first; but if Croyle can't stay healthy...we need to move on. He's got this season to prove himself; if he doesn't, I think he'l be moving on next year.

I think its a little bit of both. They dont trust him to sit in the pocket and read a defense. He took very few deep drops. Honestly he looks more comfortable out of the pocket than in it.

So naturally, the call for more run plays, shorter drops and shorter WR routes to help protect him.

Ironically, the best throw i remember Croyle making yesterday was when he was about to get pounded then released a strike to TG at the last second. That was a great throw.

This is all moot anyways.....Dude is like a glass chandelier out there.

Our offense looked like crap because:
1. the o-line isn't that good
2. Hermie thinks 14 points is Arena League
3. Chan Gailey is being conservative by order of Hermie
4. The Patriots defense is pretty darn good

Did I miss any??

For the most part, we were doomed by ghastly, stupid, utterly predictable playcalling. I've heard that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If that's true, Herm and Chan are definitely insane. How many times did Larry run up the middle for two yards? Christ.

Edwards may be a great judge of talent, but he certainly has no clue how to utilize it. As for Gailey, I don't know how much of this crap he's responsible for and how much is Herm's fault. And while there were certain things to be optimistic about yesterday, we basically left the points on the field that would have won the game.

After seeing the changes in the PS, then reverting back to the same crap gameplans we've watched for 3 years - the answer is obvious.

Yesterday's playcalling was eerily similar to the terrible situational calls Solari made.

The common denominator?

Herm Edwards and Carl Peterson.

I thought the game calling was alright. Lets run the ball, make the game as short as possible, and keep LJ involved. They need to atleast pass more on first downs, but against the pats, on the road we were going to have to play it close to the vest. If nothing else for the moral of the players. People can whine on they want on here, but we suck on paper, and we are going to have to play these games to win. We don't matchup well with teams. The fact is, you may think the playcalling is terrible, but I bet in films they will say we need to block or run better, and not worry about the playcalling.
