To those who wanted to rebuild

What changed? This question isn't intended for those who wanted Herm gone for years. It is for those that embraced the rebuild when you first heard about it this offseason. I'd say half the board was excited about the prospect of a real rebuild. People were thrilled that the team was going to go young and most people said they would be able to deal with a bad year as long as the young players got a lot of playing time and showed some improvement by the end of the year.

I know the Chiefs have been getting their asses kicked, but if you were for a complete Herm rebuild, why have you jumped ship? Why is your patience exhausted after 6 games?

Food for thought: Firing Carl and/or Herm after one real rebuilding year will be a discouragement to future Chiefs GMs and coaches to pull that rebuilding trigger. I think it makes sense to give them a second year.
No way. A legit GM ain't gonna' be running scared from day one. A legit GM will be arrogant enough to believe he's better than Carl (and 90% of the possible GM's would be correct in this belief). These guys don't get to where they are in the NFL world by being timid about their abilities to do more than their predecessor. I don't buy this argument. Carl/Herm are horrible and most new GM's/Coaches will believe they are better.

I agree, that probably pisses me off more than anything. He basically dismisses all the tradition and rivalries this team has built over the years. Calling the best offense the team ever had, a "Circus Offense," was only the beginning.
Not caring any more about beating Oakland, than Houston, is another unforgivable slight. Beating Oakland is job #1!!!

Another problem I have with the Chiefs "Rebuilding" mentality is I'm so tired of us drafting players, working with them, and then either giving up on them in a few seasons and cutting them, then hearing them making waves for another team, or seeing them turn into studs and want out. And this isn't just under Herm.

It almost feels like we are a farm club for the rest of the NFL

As I mentioned on another thread, statistically we are one of the worst teams in the NFL in the last 10 years, and the coaches of those other horrid teams never turned it around. To be as bad as we are indicates systematic incompetence throughout the organization.

Regarding rebuilding in general -- there is no rebuild, there is draft well or not draft well.

I'm really tired of all the rebuild completely through the draft crap too. You still have to pursue young FAs to fill holes in this league.
A team should be damn near a complete rebuild in three seasons in today's NFL.
Good drafting paired with good FA signings is how it is done.
I'm not sayin we should go out, and sign a bunch of over the hill FAs, but you must have depth, and you must pursue quality players any way you can.

The "talent" remains to be seen.
