Could Tyler Thigpen be to the Chiefs this season what Mike Aviles was for the Royals this season?

The royal finally got a shot, blew it, rode the pine for a week or so. Comes back in his next start, lights it up, never left the lineup, solved a problem, filled a gap, what have you.

The Chief gets his shot, blows his first start, rides then pine a few weeks. Comes back in his next start...(possibly lights it up? outplays the hall of famer? never leaves the lineup the rest of season? fills one of many weak spots for the draft?)

How good does he have to be?

I hope he turns out to be great. I doubt it, but I hope. No reason our QBOTF can't be Thigpen if all the sudden a lightbulb goes on and he proves to have the talent that can be developed. We'll know soon enough.

exactly, time will tell.

I'm not saying he is "the" guy, I'm not even saying he'll play well, but if he does...? You guys are willing to give croyle a whole season+ to find out if he is the QBOTF. But we'll only give this guy one week. Granted, Thiggy has done nothing to earn the gig except be the only QB not on the IR thats been on the team since week 1, but at least he's not on the IR.

I know Mike Aviles wasn't the typical prospect. But he was the Royals minor league player of the year in 2007. I'm not sure Thigpen's ever had even that kind of potential.

Tyler Thigpen HAS to work on a few things before he will be a sub par QB. His (as Herm would put it) Accracy cause he overthrows balls all the time, and his decision making. Personally I think Quinn Gray will be in either against Tampa Bay or the next game.

Also Brian Waters said on 810 today that they will probably not be done with dipping into the Quarterback Free Agent Pool for the season.

If he comes in and wins 2 straight, he will be sniped from the upper deck by a Planet fan. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.

carved up the Jets. Outplayed the hall of famer. Didn't get hurt. Next weeks starting QB.

If he keeps playing like this, I see no reason why he should be relegated to back up duty to our 1st rounder next year...

give the kid a chance.
