Vernon Davis

Just got kicked off the field by Mike Singletary for sitting on the bench. Way to go coach!

The 9'ers took Vernon Davis with the 6 overall pick in 2006 the year after they took Alex Smith with the first overall pick in 2005. That will set you back a ways...

It doesn't help that he has the attitude of a TO with none of the production. Apparently he's also too stupid to understand Martz's playbook.
Mike Martz who also has 0 desire to use a TE.

Davis was a disappointment before Martz. The 9ers used a top 6 pick on him, you can be certain that Martz is under pressure to use Davis. Vernon just isn't very good.

It's what happens sometimes when you draft athletic freaks instead of football players.

Yeah, he didn't seem too happy with him in the post-game press conference. When your coach says he'd rather play with ten players than have you on the field, that pretty much means he's mad at you.

I'm not exactly sure how smart it is to call out a guy for not playing all that well, what's he gonna do bench his whole team or play 5 guys or something?
