Report: Francoeur for Greinke being seriously discussed
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe has heard that the Royals and Braves are in serious discussions about a trade that would swap Jeff Francoeur for Zack Greinke.
According to one source, the only thing holding back the deal is the Braves' impending deal with A.J. Burnett. Royals GM Dayton Moore worked with a young Francoeur while the two were in Atlanta. The Royals would cut payroll with the move, but the Braves would be the clear beneficiary if this rumor has substance. http://www.boston.com/sports/basebal...other_thi.html |

Good grief. No way. Certainly not. Please no. Please...
I can't believe Dayton would be this stupid. Report must be phony. |

Especially after Glass was just quoted in the paper saying it was time to up the payroll.
Such a move would be ironic, to say the least. Sadly, Royals fans would be conditioned to it, but I think this rumor is bullshit. |

My wife will lose her mind if this happens. She's a huge Braves fan and Francoeur is one of her favorite players.
I guess if he gets traded I'll have to move the autographed baseball from her side of the mantle to mine. |

Well, she should be happy b/c her team would get a lot better, but, sometimes, fandom isn't only about logic.

Glass has more money than ever. He works for walmart. If you look at walmart right now they are kicking ass because the only business that does good when the economy sucks is wal mart, because you to save money you go to walmart

BTW, Francoeur is an excellent defensive outfielder with a cannon for an arm. His hitting has gone to hell over the past couple of years, though.
Another problem is that he grew up in Atlanta and is a life-long Braves fan. If his problems at the plate are in his head, being shitcanned away from his dream to the Royals probably won't do his wounded psyche any favors. |

That would be an awful, awful deal for Kansas City. Way to improve that OBP.

Kind of. Walmart's stock has been pretty flat--around mid 50s from high 40s. Still, pretty decent considering the current economic climate. Glass hasn't taken a huge hit on this front.

I say let's get this done! There's no use in wallowing in the fantasy of having a half-way decent team!

I warned y'all.
Dayton Moore is looking more and more like he isn't really very good at running a major league baseball team. Jeff Francoeur is a guy you pick up when his previous team non-tenders him, you certainly don't trade your best pitcher for him (not when you're already overloaded in the OF). It can't happen, it makes absolutely zero sense on any level. It makes less sense than trading an actual roster player for Mike Jacobs. If it does, every Royals fan had better get over this Moore mancrush in a hurry. |
