I wanted the Angels to get him. Or someone outside of New York/Boston. Just once I wish a free agent would show some imagination and not sign with the red sox, yankees or mets. Why has nobody signed with the Rays? Granted, their revenue streams aren't even close to the NY/Boston teams, but they won the toughest division in baseball, beat the Red Sox in the ALCS, and they don't make any noise in free agency? That fanbase doesn't NEED another reason to get excited, but they'd be more than happy if you gave them one.

Wonder if the Yankees are still in the Manny hunt. Last I heard they were thinking of 3 years at $25MM per.

The funny thing is that such over the top greed and excess like this is going to end up forcing MLB to add a salary cap and/or 100% revenue sharing.

It's just like the greed on Wall Street - the guys took it too far until it blew up, and now increased regulation will put an end to the exorbitant excess.
