Chiefs Unsubstantiated Rumor: It will be Bill Cowher as Head Coach in 2009

So nobody likes Marty because He got us to the playoffs, but never won a SB and never will.
Now we have Cower who repeatidly went to the playoffs AND won a SB, but still dont want him because...what, he has a proven record and probably couldnt do it again?

I'm getting that what a lot of ppl want is a rookie coach with TIES to someone who has had success to come in and become the next great coaching guru out of nowhere?

Is that the only acceptable way for us to go forward? How long will it take to know this new prodigy is for real?

its funny how all liken him to marty, cowher actually figured out that you have to be unoredictable on offense, trick plays and all and won with it

A sidenote to watch if this actually is true :

Nick Wright of 610 AM's "What's right with Nick Wright"

stated just the other night that he would "bet his career" and "quit his job" if Cowher was the Chiefs head coach in 2009

because he was "absolutely certain" this was not going to happen.....

Not that I'm a huge Nick Wright fan, but I hope he still has job next week, because Cowher does not need to be a Chief.

But......Cowher would be a HUGE upgrade from Herm, so if that's the only 2 options we're forced with, sign Cowher.

And Marty threw some trick plays out on occassion.

Remember a failed fake punt?

Even the most conservative coaches sometimes do unpredicatable things, but their overall philosophy remains the same.

Control the ball, keep the game close, and rely on your defense to protect a lead in the second half.

That's a recipe for mixed results, at best.

I'm not doing cartwheels over Cowher if this is true, but I'm at least sure that the defense is immediately going to get better, so there's that.

I remember thinking the same thing when Herm was hired...

I hated Herman ****ing Edwards from the word "Go".

Never expected him to bring toughness or a great defense to KC.

And the team, overall, would be much more fundamentally sound and tough.

I can't say I'd be unhappy about that.

Let me be clear here.

I won't be pissed if this rumor proved to be true like I was when Herman ****ing Edwards was hired, but neither will I be dancing in the streets.

I'll enjoy the hardnosed, tough football that he'll bring to the Chiefs and hope like hell that he can bring at least one championship to the team.
