Unsubstantiated Rumor: It will be Bill Cowher as Head Coach in 2009

OK gang, as you all know, A friend of mine from high school is good friends with a former player of the Chiefs and Steelers... just talked with him on Facebook and he said that 100% that Cowher will be the coach next year. The assistants have been told to find other employment and they are at the senior bowl with Pioli and he is seeing which assistants/scouts that may be worth keeping.

Cowher loves the new facilities... working with Scott Pioli... the new attitude... & he wants to be able to come to KC and be the hero.

Apparently, Cowher drafted this former player and they remain good friends. And Cowher told him these things... allegedly.

My friend isn't a big bullshitter... but this would seem to be too good to be true.

cowher and pioli have the makings of a very good organization that players would LOVE to play for...

so, I'd say 80% that this happens... flame away if you like... but, I thought I'd share.

So if Gammon is the source, that means either Gammon isn't a "high school friend" in the strictest sense of the phrase or Ari is lying about his age. And it's possible that Kendall told Nick it wasn't true because he reads the boards and knows that Nick is a dumbshit.

Brentston Buckner is 37, and thus would be slightly more likely age-wise, but he's from Georgia and Ari doesn't exactly have the southern hospitality and charm of, say, Midnite Vulture.

Alex Van Pelt (38) and Bam Morris (37) are from Pittsburgh and Texas, respectively.

WHO COULD IT BE?!?!
Just to clear things up.. it's Ari's FRIEND WHO IS FRIENDS with a former Chiefs/Pittsburgh player... not Ari himself...

So Ari's high school friend would be the one to blame if this isn't true.. not Ari...

I think it's too late to try and bring in a new Head Coach in, so Pioli will likely go ahead and let Clark Hunt keep his promise of retaining Herm. To combat the lame duck situation with Herm, Pioli will probably bring replacement coaches himself and guarantee they will last beyond 2009.

I would take Cowher in a heart beat. He would have a defense that would make tackles and wrap up. Thats something we haven't seen in years around Arrowhead.

Cowher was the model of consistency in Pittsburg while losing players to free agency yearly. Cowher must be a good evaluator of football skills and talent.

I can't believe Edwards is still our coach !!! wtf is up with that Pioli ?

I know. I still can't think that there's any possible way that Edwards is still our coach this season.

PC baby, PC. You can't fire him before the championship games and be a distraction.

You can't fire him on MLK day or inaugration day.

Patience grasshopper. It's a done deal.

Personally, I hope this rumor is true. Cowher has passion. We would have a defense that would be respected by the league immediately. With the emergence of Thigpen, Bradley,Bowe, Gonzalez, Charles. We could be next years Arizona Cardinals.

And for those of you that hate Schottenheimer you have to remember he NEVER had a quality running back. If he had, there would have been some progress made in the postseason. He and Cowher put together a great Defense though.

Emergence of Gonzalez? Really? How about "steady GODLINESS of Gonzalez."
