I'll bet money it is Paul Pasqualoni. He is defense minded, experienced, and Parcell's boy.

Denver and Oakland will be getting yearly ass kickings if Shanahan comes here.

Out of all the candidates being rumored this would be the worst choice.

Isn't it just barely possible that Pioli is telling the truth here?
It is entirely possible. I think the confusing part for all of us is why it took him 10 days to decide to fire Herm.

That statement I quoted was from the press conference where Shanahan's firing was announced, you understand. He already knew he was fired.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he wouldn't coach the Chiefs. I'm just saying he wouldn't go along with the scheme that ESPN reported that would have Bowlen paying most of his salary while coaching the Chiefs. There's no reason to do that other than pettiness - a sentiment totally foreign to those he has already expressed regarding Bowlen.

It's strategically beneficial for him to hamstring Bowlen if he were to coach here.

Be careful what you wish for. You know Shanahan has never been able to win in Kansas City.

It is in his contract that if he got a job he would have to pay the difference for the next 3 years IIRC. I believe he owes Shanahan $7 million a year.

This wouldn't hamstring Bowlen in any way as far as football operations go - there's no salary cap for coaches.

It would just be taking money out of Bowlen's pocket and putting into Hunt's.

Money that is not spent on Shanaha's salary can be spent on signing bonuses. Gives the rat a competitive advantage. Business, not personal.

Or putting it into his own on a deferred basis.
