LOL

You would have a better chance of extracting control from Al Davis

When you get to an NFL head coach level of salary and ambition, it ain't about the money. It's about the ambition and accomplishment. No one is going to talk about you if you are sitting on the sideline.

When people think someone at this level would rather twiddle their thumbs than make something happen for the same pay either way, it makes me laugh.

Any number of teams who want Shanahan, and think that their current coach isn't getting it done might fire their coach.

So, as is my style, I'm not about to go over 500 posts to catch up.

Can someone tell me the consensus of this thread? Is this legit?

Because football coaches coach.

Why would Eric Mangini jump right back into the water to coach when he could sit on his ass and collect a fat paycheck from the Jets?

Why would Scott Linehan coach as a coordinator for basically nothing while the Rams pay his entire paycheck?

Why would Mike Nolan coach the defense in Denver when the 49ers are on the hook for his salary?

I know my lazy ass would sit there and collect my money, but I'm not a football coach.

Stop acting like you're surprised that Shanahan would be interested in the Chiefs.

1) They have solid ownership
2) They have a top evaluator
3) They have loads of cap room
4) They have a high draft pick
5) They have a great fanbase that would worship Shanahan forever if be coached a winner here.
6) He knows the division

It's really not rocket science why he would coach again, and why it MIGHT be with the Chiefs.

Do I think he's coming here? No, I don't.

But is it hysterical watching Bronco losers spend their entire night on a CHIEFS board trying to refute any chance of it happening? Absolutely.

According to that article, 17 teams showed interest in Shanny and yet he's still unemployed. Kind of blows that theory out of the water.

All of which are good points, and I too think he's not coming here. I think we're waiting until after the Super Bowl to make a final decision. Hell, it took them this long to finally let go of Herm.

He won't be taking less, he's making $7 mil next year and the two after that whether he works in the NFL or not. He's OWED that.
I understand that exactly. You don't seem to. Let's spell it out:

- Shanahan does nothing - collects $7 million.
- Shanahan signs to coach Chiefs for $3.5 million - collects $7 million (Bowlen makes up the difference and their friendship is ruined)
- Shanahan signs to coach Chiefs for $7.5 million - collects $7.5 million (all from the Hunts, Bowlen grins and bears it)

Now, what's in it for Shanahan to take the second option?

I must say, the fear in the form of absolute, albeit uninformed, certainty that Shanahan is not the Chiefs next coach from Broncos fans is worth its weight in gold even if it doesn't happen.
