The Thread that Claythan Hates

Claythan, here's an interesting situation developing....

If the Chiefs hire Mike Shanahan, the coach you've been wanting for so long, that could mean that Tyler Thigpen becomes the Chiefs' QBOTF.

While Shanahan seemed to like Cutler, Thigpen is the mobile, bootlegging QB that he's always loved.

Just a thought.

As good as Cutler is and while Cutler is not a statue, it just seemed like that misdirection trickery has been missing in Shanahan's offense of late. Maybe that's why they haven't been able to run the ball nearly as well as they used to.
The ground game fell off b/c the talent wasn't as great as previous seasons...

Uh, you've been slurping Herms sac for the three years he's been in town. The fact that you did so on a different board doesn't negate the fact. I know, I was there, and if the board over there hadn't crashed, I'd have your posts to refer to. It's only of late that you've changed your tone on Herm and his obvious stupidity. Then out of the other side of your face, you try to justify the same stupidity. Go sell your bullshit to somebody else. Men are talking here.

I am a contrarian and I know this. I don't argue against points just to get a reaction, I just don't have much interest discussing a topic everybody already agrees with already. I have always doubted many facets of Herm's game, but it doesn't make for interesting argument because everybody agrees with it anyway. And I have never been convinced that he was a Super Bowl coach or a long-term option, but I was willing to give him every chance to prove otherwise. I don't think he fairly got that chance, but I also believe that the Chiefs had no choice but to fire him in 2009.

You can spin it any way you want to. I have never liked nor hated Herm. I stand by the idea that I will never understand why he is as hated as he is.

Shanahan loves strong armed QBs who can boot.

Thigpen isn't strong armed, and I question whether he can really throw on the run.

All Shanahan coming here would guarantee is that Mark Sanchez or Matt Stafford is the Chiefs QBOTF.

Sanchez would also be an ideal QBOTF. Shanahan can make it work with Stafford, as he did with Cutler, but I just think a guy like Sanchez or Thigpen lets him open up the whole playbook. Sanchez isn't a mobile guy per se, but what has impressed me most about him is how well he throws on the run and how elusive he is when a rush is coming.

To me Thigpen has shown that under the right circumstances then he can fill in. He's not a QBotF, he's an adequate backup. That's more than he was when he came here. He was a last resort.

Why are we worrying about this when Shanahan coming here is pretty much a pipe dream.

If by "pipe dream" you mean the prolonged vegetative state you go into after being hit by one then yes...
