per espn's williamson:

The early buzz is that Miami assistant Todd Bowles could be a candidate for defensive coordinator. Bowles is a well-respected coach and has interviewed for some head-coaching jobs. He could help rebuild the defense in Kansas City, but ultimately it all comes down to Pioli and Haley.

Pioli's job to give Haley the pieces to make it work on the field. All eyes are on Pioli as the league wants to see if he can succeed on his own without the comfort of having Bill Belichick in the same building. In Haley, Pioli has selected a young, bright coach who was known almost as much for his explosive personality as his explosive offense attack.

Jesus Christ, dude.

You've asked this multiple times.

Do you want someone to just make up an answer for you?

If no one has the answer, no one is going to respond.

pendergrast is not coming here... unless he is given the assistant head coach title...

I would not count on it.

Now. There are going to be lots of names thrown out there... Look at the pattern, this is a family affair, meaning look at guys these two have worked with in the past...

I think Bowles etc...

I also think it'll be guys they've worked with before, meaning guys from the Parcells/Patriots coaching tree. However, Pioli won't be stealing coaches from New England and I'm sure he won't steal them from his father-in-law's team in Miami. Haley would probably lose some respect for stealing coaches from Arizona as well.

I'm surprised more Steelers defensive assistants haven't been targeted. They've had a lot of consistency with their staff over the last 5-6 years and longer, even with the Cowher/Tomlin changeover.

At least we'll know whether we're going to switch to a 34 defense once the coordinator is announced. Hopefully the rumors that Haley was assembling a staff during Super Bowl week is true so that it doesn't take forever.

Romeo Crennel obviously becomes a favorite for this job, since he's a Patriots guy and is available. I wish Gunther was still here - I have the feeling he and Haley would've gotten along just fine!

You know, I've been posting on Chiefs message boards for a decade, and I was always told to steer clear of ChiefsPlanet. For the last 5 years, I was dedicated to the KC Star's forums. Simple, easy, no bullshit. Then they changed their format, lost a ton of posters to another startup board run by another egomaniac who gets his rocks off by running a message board on the internet, and boom, I'm lacking on my Chiefs discussion fix.

So I signed up on ChiefsPlanet. And they were all right.

There are a bunch of idiots here. If you spent half the time talking about football instead of cutting other people down to make yourselves feel better while jacking up your post counts, this would be an excellent place to talk football.

But it's not. It's lame. People start threads with relevant topics, like who likely coordinators will be, and the first 50 posts are bullshit, jackoff, unrelated posts by grown men trying to be cute with one another.

What a load of crap. I thought that sort of thing was relevant to places like Oakland, and here in Steeler country. It kind of makes me mad being a Chiefs fan.

There were always bad apples and silly posters on the other boards I've frequented, but they were always trumped out by serious, football-minded posters.

That's not the case here. Just a whole lot of clowns.

you are right, I am sorry. but if you really want some excellent football talk with people who really know their stuff I suggest going to WPI's board and becoming a member there. That's where the real football fans are at.
