Micheal Crabtree

I'm coming around to the idea of Haley drafting a stud receiver. and having another dynamic pair of receivers like Bouldin and Fitzgerald. Also Crabtree is a comparable player to Larry Fitzgerald in terms of how they play

A lot of folks are understandably down on Crabtree, but what gets me is why it's a given Maclin should be ranked so far ahead of those other guys. His straight line speed is impressive but he doesnt have much shake and bake to his game and has played mostly as a slot/reverse guy offensively.

There's two big pieces of news in that report, the 6'1 1/4 thing, and the statement that he's not working out because he's rehabbing an ankle injury. I assumed it was an injury rather than the ever popular "dodging the combine because he's slow" line-of-thought, but that's the first time I've heard what it actually was. It'll be interesting to see what he does at his pro day, but losing two inches has to hurt.

I think the original poster was the one during the season who kept pimping some NAIA QB.

I think the ankle injury is a convenient excuse. Hell there was footage of him sprinting at Michael Johnson's facility in Texas, yet he claims this injury is from the season.

It's a smokescreen.

When he runs a 4.58, the jig is up.

And if he runs a 4.48, what then? His hands and how he makes his catches , i.e body position in traffic, is where his value is. There is a lot more involved in getting separation then speed. Or the NFL would be flooded with 4.2 guys. Since its hard to find targets in the NCAA, guarantee you ... until proven wrong .... that he caught an extremely high % of his targets.

1. He's never had to run crisp routes, so assuming he can get separation through crisp route running is fallacious.
2. He rarely faced any kind of bracketed coverage because he had 3-4 other receivers spreading the field.
3. He cannot, and will not run a 4.48.
4. The NFL probably has less than 10 4.2 guys.

So it takes more than speed to get separation. Most college WR's run poor routes. Leach runs a very unique offense, are we sure that Crabtree didnt run the routes he was supposed to? The fact he will do drills will probably answer that question. He does a great job of getting his body between the defender and the ball. He catches an extremely high amount of balls thrown at him. It wasnt like Harrell was going to throw 25 yd deep outs to him. I probably wouldnt take him the 3rd pick, but its not like the guy isnt a player. He's the guy when you have a 3rd and 8 and need a 1st down, he makes the play.

Dont know if he is a LF type receiver or not, but LF wasnt getting this kind of ball washing before the season started. Its a weak top end talent draft. The best WR will get over valued.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Michael Crabtree will be sidelined for the next ten weeks following surgery for a stress fracture in his foot.

He'll have a pin inserted into the foot. Crabtree has nursed this injury since mid-October in 2008, so it's no surprise to find out that something's seriously wrong. He will not work out at all before the draft. Crabtree's put a lot on film in Mike Leach's spread offense, but he risks falling out of the top 5-7 picks. He measured far shorter than expected on Friday and won't be able to answer questions about his 40 time at Pro Day. Feb. 21 - 11:53 am et

With the developments regarding Smith and Crabtree the top 10 is going to shuffle.
