Matt Cassel: Good or Bad?

We may as well have an easy point of reference for people to be able to come back and eat their crow when this all pans out. Everyone always says I knew it all along. Step up and put it down.

I don't think a 2nd round pick is terrible, but I don't think Matt Cassel will pan out in KC. I'll put it down right here, right now. And now I'll start praying I'm wrong.

Forget the trade. The only thing I want you to commit too is whether or not Cassel is a good or bad choice for QBOTF.

See, here's the problem.

I've never given a shit who reads what I write and if they like it or not.

I don't like KCJohnny. Don't like the fact that he's basically used his service time as a crutch around here, and he's treated people far worse, while proclaiming to be holier than thou.

He has a history on here.

I will leave it alone now because it's an argument that will go nowhere, but trust me, KCJohnny will do something on this board in the next year that will make all of this make sense.

IIRC, back in the Corey Dillon trade talk days, KCJ was trying to convince us all Donnell Bennett and his 0.7 (or wahtever it was) YPC was all that, and that we didn't need a franchise type RB.

The fact is Cassel stepped into a record breaking offense that had come off an 18-1 season and couldn't muster 22 TD passes. Thigpen inherited one of the league's most anemic offenses (4-12 season), a new O/C, a rookie OLT and many other rookies and yet his stats almost match Cassel's.

That is more than a boxscore, that is just a plain NFL football fact. And Cassel will cost $80 million over the long haul while Thigpen is playing for the league minimum. Meanwhile, KC has the league's most pathetic defense and invests a mint in a backup QB. Nice.

Cassel is a "safe" move, Not a QB that will lead you to the promise land but wont embarrase you either... He is the kind of QB that "true fans" masturbate at night over...

Oh please, stand by your comment. I advocated Donnell getting a whole season's worth of carries in '99 as his 1 game started record was 161 attempts for 627 yards and 8 TDs would have translated into 1200+ yards and 16 TDs @3.9 YPC, clearly better than any KC back on the roster at that time.
