my dad's Chiefs room / post your own!

My dad, who's a lurker on the board (redngold58), has spent the past several years of his life collecting any and every article of Chiefs memorabilia he can. Anything he gets goes into the computer room of my parents house. After years of collecting such items, you can imagine how ridiculously Chiefed-out this room is.

I called him last week and asked him if he had any pictures of the room because I wanted to give him some cred on the Planet, but to no avail. So I went home with my camera and snapped some shots of the room and its many elements for display on ChiefsPlanet. There are quite a few pictures, so hopefully this photobucket thing works, but enjoy!

He's put a lot of time and effort (and $, right dad?) into the room and it's his pride and joy.

here goes:

Thanks for posting this! I always love to see what people have. I have some pretty cool stuff too, but haven't gotten it all displayed yet. Some highlights:

Actual helmet telephones used by the Chiefs from the years they drafted Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith, and Tony Gonzalez

Derrick Thomas signed game used Chiefs home jersey

Tony Gonzalez signed game used Pro Bowl jersey

And of course tons of autographs, etc.

My favorite piece I have though is a George Brett cracked bat. Here's what's special about this one though. Everyone remembers the pine tar game, well of course George kept that bat. Well, a pitch or two before that, he hit a long foul ball and cracked his bat. It also was full of pine tar. I have that bat.

Charger Fan here,

May I ask what is the significance of the Chiefs - 49ers game?

Do you mean the 44? If so, it goes with the big picture above the computer. It's from the Chiefs/49ers game from back in the day when the Chiefs started their backup (I think it was Gannon) against Steve Young and the 49ers...we thought it was going to be just an absolutely horrible game, bit it turned into one of biggest blowouts. So, one year my mom had a panoramic picture that we had taken from our seats blown up and framed and made the plaques to look like parts of a scoreboard displaying the final score of the game

No. The final score in the Montana v. Young game was 24-17 (I just rewatched it a couple of weeks ago).

The 44-9 game was against Young, but Joe had already retired. It was a great game because they were favored and we kicked the shit out of them.
