I didn't know that. I've seen Louis C.K. do a show and listened to quite a bit of his material, and I like him a lot. I'd never heard that Cook stole his material.

I'll take your word that Cook stole. But Larry's act is a schtick. You can't steal schtick I don't think. You might call him a hack, but he earned what he got. I'm not saying his act is inventive, original, or even funny. But unless he's stealing material, I'll give him credit for getting what he's got. He's there to make people laugh, and some people like it.

I've been doing standup on open mike nights around Dallas for about a month now. It's hard enough coming up with fresh material but that's really a very small part of it. It's a huge challenge to overcome stage fright, remember your lines and get your timing down. What Menstealya and Cook do is unforgiveable. While I do think Larrys act is the epitome of lowest common denominator he has found his niche audience of yokels that are willing to show up in droves for his shows.

For what its worth the first (and only) time I saw Mind of Mencia I chuckled a bit. There were a couple funny skits but I had no idea he was a joke stealer. Once I found that out I grew to despise him. And I also agree that George Lopez isnt funny at all...not even a little bit. My daughter loves his show and I watch it with her sometimes (to make her happy) and its gotta be one of the dumbest things Ive seen since Full House.

Lopez's sitcom is... well, about what you'd expect. It's a sitcom. It's mildly amuzing. His stand up's pretty good though.

Mencia's stand up sucks, and his show is even worse.

IMO George Lopez > "Carlos Mencia"

Although that's admittedly not saying much.
